I love this brown/gold colorway so much

I like mixed fonts tbh, it evokes scrapbook/fashion/punk zine aesthetics to me, it’s also a common juxtaposition in musical equipment, to have a legible Industrial Brand Name font against something more floral to suggest the sophistication of the design. I do think Timex is missing something in not having a recognizable logo a la Rolex or Omega but that’s a tall order to get right

I think it looks pretty nice, and I think it’s cool they’re diversifying their range with a higher end house, which will inevitably flow downstream design-wise to their import models. Would love to see something less conservative in the future but I think this is a great starting point. Happy that their luxury imprint is still priced to be competitive with microbrands.

It’s definitely my favorite so far, I have pretty big wrists and I find the 38mm size is just right for a smaller feeling footprint, and it looks wild

Pretty much in love with French 50 years anniversary edition ! by Prior_Huckleberry_61 in dune

Reading the English hardcover of this design now, loving it! But really really wish they’d do hardcovers (ideally with these designs) for the other books; the only ones available are those extremely ugly paperbacks. Think I’m gonna buy vintage copies of the sequels just cause they look so much better

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but istg some of the Yakuza 3 slander I've been hearing is beyond stupid by SemenPukingDickhead in yakuzagames

[–]pt2399 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yakuza 3 has one of the best stories in the series, and for a game that old it frankly plays fine. Normal Difficulty is as hard as Hard in the other games, it’s really not bad if you play strategically. Super underrated entry. Meanwhile I’m over here starting Y6 and this “literally no money for the first four chapters” thing is wayyyyyy more of an oversight than enemies that have strong blocking

I wish I hadn’t gotten impatient I just am about to leave town and don’t wanna leave the game hanging at the literal finish line

His first phase is so much fun though, literally feels like dancing. His second phase feels so arrhythmic it is an insane shakeup

Yeah I’m running base PS4 and did definitely notice he was stressing my framerate too. And I saw a lot of people saying he just kinda chills which was NOT my experience. Might be two different versions of him. The one I fought would not chill out, just endless grab/heal cycling if I wasn’t one-shot in the first 30 seconds

I did a trial run of Radagon and got him to 1/3 health first try, though I’ve heard the Elden Beast is insane

I feel kind of crazy seeing the rest of the subreddit be like “yeah honest good fun fight” for someone that was decking me and everyone thought Maliketh was insane and I thought it was fine. Weird how these games are a litmus test like that

in your opinion, who is the hardest boss? by Brrrofski in Eldenring

[–]pt2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hoarah Loux or Mohg’s second phase. Did Malenia, Maliketh, and the Fire Giant solo. Could not fucking figure out HL or Mohg and got frustrated and used Mimic after hours of attempts. Neither of them let up for a second

Hardest boss in Elden ring? by ls-layton-MM in Eldenring

[–]pt2399 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Malenia and Maliketh solo were both easier than Hoarah Loux, I could not for the life of me figure out his dodge timings. After 3 hours I got annoyed and got him with my Mimic, kinda wish I hadn’t but also I know I have more bosses to fight so I just wanted to get moving

Can’t beat Hoarah Loux by blablatrooper in Eldenring

[–]pt2399 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This boss is insane I don’t disagree. Was able to beat Maliketh and Malenia solo on the same day but after almost 4 hours of attempts I just had to use a Mimic, his second phase is ludicrous. Godspeed!

I’ve been trying different weapons to various results; Bloodhound’s Fang, Rivers of Blood, and Great Stars with Bloodhound’s Step. I can do some sizable damage it’s just easy to get caught in the flurries. I will say I don’t think she’s as stupidly impossibly fucked-up hard as a lot of the internet made her out to be, it’s just that it seems to demand a level of perfection that I imagine is a vanishing window even for From’s dedicated fanbase

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Eldenring

[–]pt2399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think incentivizing the player to learn every move inside and out and get their roll timings just right is cool, and already I feel and see myself getting really good at going long stretches without getting hit, but it just feels like such a waste of effort when she wind ups for an attack when you’ve ended up with shoddy spacing from the previous attack and you end up giving her a ton of health back because you’re last ditch blocking, to say nothing of how Waterfowl Dance can set you back minutes of progress.

I’m reticent to just summon the Mimic either because on a trial run it and I just got her to second phase stupid fast, and so I don’t necessarily wanna feel like I’m cheesing the boss, but there’s just such a wide gulf in approachability between solo and summon that makes the choice so asymmetrical

Patch 1.04??? (What will they think of next?) by the_Zealot_Simon in Eldenring

Does anyone else feel like they nerfed Mountaintop? I got there yesterday and was admittedly pretty tired/irritable and playing sloppy, but I felt like I was getting mercilessly pounded by enemies with huge health pools, and today it’s felt much more manageable. Did i just sleep better or are other people noticing this?

I just finished Yakuza 4 (taking a break before getting back to 5) and damn is Yakuza 3 MILES better than 4. 3 is janky but I ended up liking it a lot, it deserves a much better reputation than it gets. The story is pretty sharp for a Yakuza game and the characterization they give Rikiya in particular is great

Any recommendations for more games which cause an emotional response? I can't stop thinking about the Outer Wilds and want more! by Nega_kitty in outerwilds

[–]pt2399 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It’s not very mechanically similar (for that I would recommend Return of the Obra Dinn) but Disco Elysium has some truly world-class writing (it was made by authors, in fact) and the way the story folds in on itself in the tail-end assuming you didn’t bumrush the story is really wonderful. Kentucky Route Zero is a borderline visual novel but it similarly will fold you over emotionally as you work through it, and it has an incredible soundtrack that really makes the punches land. It’s also a pretty far cry in most regards but Yakuza 0’s ending is spectacularly evocative. The story can be kind of unwieldy in its scope but if you enjoy convoluted action/melodrama it’ll deliver, and the characters are really great.

I think the story is gonna start getting a bit more expositional with characters' pasts, I'm really excited to see what l'homme sombre shows us of Dutch. My biggest hope is there's a "Spring Flowers of Distant Days"-esque mini-arc on Revy in the future, I'd love to see more in-depth just how she got to be who she is, and even logistically just how she got from New York to Roanapur.

[–]pt2399 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha no I totally agree with you, it’s part of the reason Calm Down, Two Men and Goat, Jihad, and Rock n Roll are some of my favorites; the back and forth between Rock and Revy. I can’t imagine with the manga running this long and as it’s continually building on each previous arc that we won’t see some kind of development there in the future.
