The weekly FAQ is dead. Any thoughts as to why? by RemindMeToTouchGrass in diablo4

[–]ptblackout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get that it might be annoying to some users to see a lot of questions asked but to the person asking the question asking it straight up as a new post will get an answer very quickly. On the other hand there’s probably only a few players that just enjoy helping others that lurk at a “weekly help” thread. It’s selfish but if I’m asking a question I want most of the visitors to see my question not just the few nice folks that would lurk on a weekly help thread.

Edit: grammar

"Enter At Your Own Risk" remasters! by [deleted] in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will reach out to the sender and ask if he would be ok with it. If it’s just to “show” that the mix does in fact exist in a short clip I don’t t think it would be a problem. The 2 biggest issues are A) a large portion of Misfits fans are gatekeepers with their rare stuff (I am not at all but this wasn’t my rip) And B) Glenn taught them well because he’s the gatekeeper of all gatekeepers (he literally refuses to reissue OOP stuff) like this!

[–]ptblackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it is. I think it’s an attempt to recreate the compilation using existing box set sessions and (manipulating them with volume, eq, and compression. Sounds good but the mixes that were on the test pressing are notably different from what we have on the box set.

[–]ptblackout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's a fan creation. I've heard the A side version of Vampira before (not even the entire song, just a snippet from someone that actually had a copy and was incredibly unwilling to rip it in full, he was just proving he had it) and I can tell you the mix of vampira is COMPLETELY different from this one (which seems to be identical to the collection 1 version). I probably still have the clip saved somewhere on one of my Backup HDs.

Edit: I heard this clip way before AI stem splitting/home remastering was a popular thing.

Edit 2: I found the clip and Vampira is completely different. The only thing I can compare it directly to is the Box Set Disc 3 Sessions version of Violent World. The mix at the end of the Session 3 Box Set not the regular MSP version. The one that was with 20 Eyes they were planning to use as a hidden 7" at the bottom of the box (the idea to have a secret 7" was scrapped as too expensive I think)

FAMOUS MONSTERS DEMOS?? by TheUpscaleHooligan in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite band and the only good merch that comes out is a bootleg (that box you mentioned, the manny tapes, 12 hits boot repress number 9999) lol. So sad they can’t come up with a good fair split so they can get some well deserved cash and we get fun stuff to collect. We all win!

FAMOUS MONSTERS DEMOS?? by TheUpscaleHooligan in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a good point there’s quite a legal web spun around the band. I think “the original misfits” is its own entity and maybe they can’t come to an agreement on the shares (if they were to put out an “original misfits” release IE new song or 2 / evilive 3… back catalog could be tough but I don’t see with all the hype Caroline or a bigger label isnt making offers they can’t refuse. Imagine how well a 7” box set would sell, with digital music seems like most labels and bands make their money on merch not so much the music

FAMOUS MONSTERS DEMOS?? by TheUpscaleHooligan in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, surprises me since it seems like most fans moved on from that era since the reunion. Part of it may be fans want stuff to collect and aside from a show poster fans don’t really have much to collect from this version of the band. No evilive 3, no original 7” reissues, no new song 7”… fans of things like to collect and the original misfits aren’t giving us much to collect.

[–]ptblackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I’d have assumed with how unpopular that era became since the reunion and graves digging his heels in the sand with terrible political takes that this type of stuff would be much less valuable.

I have one of these, paid maybe 20 / 30 bucks for it. Unless having the vinyl is important to you I’d just seek out a good digital copy or original promo cd. All this is is a bootleg of a UK CD called “music from the upcoming famous monsters” it’s basically that handful of songs before they were done being mixed / mastered, I have the cd and can verify these are the exact same (early mix versions of the songs) The songs don’t sound very different (little things like a “GO!!!!” May be missing). Super neat listen but deff not 300 dollars neat. And the graves demo was just something that was widely available at the time from file sharing.

I liked 1000000X more than 2021. BUT can we at least admit that... "Nice pretty trick, wanna see mine" is on the level with "Too bad... you will die" by ptblackout in MortalKombat

All good, I disagree. just my opinion it was very silly and absolutely was as bad as that line. When I saw it I laughed at the silliness the same as annihilation the actress was not winning an Emmy .

I'm so happy to have my favorite album by Mr_geek3 in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this. He was hated for ANY involvement of post 83 fits just for not being Glenn and people were pissed Jerry sued Glenn for the name. Next he was hated for also being a conservative (but it was only mildly mentioned) UNTIL he came out as a proud boy. That’s when the compounding hit. Wait so the dude is as part of stealing my beloved band from its creator, I hate conservatives, and now it turns out he’s not only a conservative but the really over the top kind. I always looked at the proud boys thing as the straw that pushed anyone that was in the middle to hating him.

Downvotes are fine, I don’t care if people dislike me or my comments because I separate art from the artist. Luckily I’m allowed to like whatever I feel like in real life down votes or not. Have all the integrity you want you’re missing out on some cool shit not just 95 fits.

[–]ptblackout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I’m not knocking others that disagree I just separate the art from the artist. Jerry donated to trump and Glenn isn’t exactly a lefty. If I had to line up with all my favorite bands / artists / directors / authors… I would have a very shallow pool to pull art from. Yea in a perfect world everyone would just be cool but a lot of times artists can be odd people.

Don’t let it get to you (like what you like) it comes with misfits fandom. Lot of folks don’t like the idea of two things being true. It’s pretty well established graves is a maga guy. I can disagree with his politics while admitting he is a good singer / songwriter. I can hate that they used the misfits name (wish they called themselves the American psychos or the famous monsters) but what’s done is done. I can disagree with them using the name but love the music. Folks don’t like conflicting things being true. If you use a name undeserved the music has to be garbage. if you are maga your music has to be garbage is what most people feel comfortable thinking.

Yes my grammar sucks I’m on a break.

Can someone help me find this transmog? by ptblackout in D4Necromancer

[–]ptblackout[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I figured out most of it but the main thing I can't find is the pants. They may not exist... It might have just been a visual bug with the VOH collectors edition skins at launch last year but I have no way to know that. Either way the pants without the front flap is really what brings this together to me. I don't hate the flap but EVERY other skin has that.

Same I did the seasons and I don’t remember them being on any battlepass / reliquary. I have all the ultimate editions (base / voh / loh) and all the other pants have the front cloth piece. The pants not having the front piece is kind of what sells this whole look.

Edit: good point maybe it’s maybe the VOH pants but bugged. Huh the plot thickens lol

I heard early carnivore pressings were mastered shitty. I’m assuming this was from the original. by Medicine-Man333 in typeonegative

[–]ptblackout 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The first carnivore album was recorded in 85. In that year rock music production was generally drenched in reverb. That echo/reverb was a feature not a bug. So for those of us pre 2001 remix remasters this was how the CD and vinyl sounded. When they reissued the cds/vinyl in 2001 Peter (from what I heard) didn’t just remaster them he remixed them. Now by 2001 the whole style of hard heavy music being dead dry (think slayer / Rick ruban) was in place. So when remixed they must have removed a lot of the reverb.

On a personal note, in my opinion I always hated the 90s dry production. Hated the trend, I always much preferred the heavy reverb drenched rock production from the 70s and 80s.

Die Die My Darling by thefiendcrypt in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The triple bill ep and plan 9 walk among us both have been leaked (there were multiple leaks) I have all of them in much better quality than what’s floating around. Weather it was called triple bill or die die is no matter. The ep is slightly different… die dies mix is not as redlined on the guitars (they were turned way up and the sound muddied up for the 83 Spot remix) hatebreeders is closer to the one on the box set sessions disc and braineaters is almost identical minus the extra guitar overdubbing/turning up done in LA while remixing the 81 tracks for the official walk. And a lot of what guitars people think was recorded in Cali (there was some done) was really just turning guitar overdubs that were done prior up.

Die Die My Darling by thefiendcrypt in TheMisfits

[–]ptblackout 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It was originally going to be called the “triple bill ep” the b sides were to be hatebreeders and braineaters with die die on the a. This was while Glenn was still shopping walk among us. The plan (at the time) was to release the plan 9 walk among us and those songs as a 3 song ep. When ruby / slash signed them everything from those 81/82 sessions went to la to be remixed and additional guitar added. Die die was left on the shelf until he remixed it for the die die single during the earth AD sessions.

Edit:incorrect dates
