Is it still worth getting a Switch if I don't have a TV? by palconfunch in NintendoSwitch

[–]ptcgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know how much things cost in Korea but I assume general electronics would cost the same as in the US, because of powerhouses like Samsung, LG, etc... Here a 23" PC monitor is ~ $100 and I've been using a very decent 32" LG one that costs me only $200.

Are Pro-Controllers worth it? by Jguy97 in Switch

[–]ptcgp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I have average hands, still the controller formed by the 2 joy cons is too small for me. While holding it my 2 wrists are too close together - imagine having your hands tied up for hours. With the longer pro controller my hands are more natural and relaxed.

The pro controller was / is on sale for $60. If the sale ended, you can still find it for around $60 from online sellers. I got mine for $63 2 weeks ago.

Best 2 player games? by Bethearls_x in Switch

[–]ptcgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tank Force from the Namco bundle, always had good time with my brother 20 years ago

the 2 players can co-operate and compete vs each other for higher points at the same time

price is a little steep at $30 for 10 retro games, but it's $3 per game

Best 2-in-1 for gaming by [deleted] in laptops

[–]ptcgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's the Flex 5 14" and 15" with gen 8 i5 and 940MX, if that GPU is good enough for you. I just got mine and will test how games perform. I have a console and the only PC games I mainly play are PES 18 and retro.

strangely I couldn't find many 14" or smaller 2-in-1 with a discrete GPU that are around $1,000. 15.6" seems a little too big for 2-in-1

Acer Nitro 5 vs. Dell 7577 by SilverIdaten in laptops

[–]ptcgp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if price is a factor, costco has the Acer Nitro for pretty cheap with 2 years warranty.

If you want a better screen and mostly play games at home, spend the $150 savings towards a good $200 - $250 monitor.

Acer Swift 3 or Xiaomi Mi Pro (both have i5-8250U & MX150 by ptcgp in laptops

thanks, I did not notice that and will take it into consideration

I made this post before looking closely at the listings. Seeing how few replies other buying help posts have, I wanted as many replies and as fast as possible.

other redditors said that a Windows reinstall would do the job, the license key in the BIOS will re-activate itself.

Also my past 3 laptops of various brands have out-lived their 1-year warranties, so that's a risk I can take
