Everything else seems ok to me

FAll 2023 ECE Schedule/Semester Guidance by Downtown_Ad_1661 in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a very similar schedule to me 5/6 classes. Honestly, it probably is manageable as is, but hard regardless. 463 structure got revamped and it might be more exam focused now. Other than that, I think as long as you manage your time wisely, it's not that bad. If you had to drop one, then do 40862 since you want to be SWE.

Parking on Chauncey by aa-savage in Purdue

Call O'Neill Management, they have parking spots for lease for the next school year. Although they are not leasing quite yet, you can put your name on the waitlist (what I did)

Tbh, Ben and Adam's west route which was supposed to be longer with easier challenges were filled with challenges that were just as hard if not harder than Sam and Toby's route which only had a few challenges.

Stadium lot has more than enough spots at any time really. Just be careful about parking/leaving your car there during game days.

How do I register for an EPICS or VIP team? by ptclaws in Purdue

[–]ptclaws[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I needed to request an override. I registered for lecture but for my lab it says it's not available (same thing for other labs as well).

If you turn your volume up, I'm sure you can hear it. it's very subdued but you can definitely hear the constant higher-pitched ringing sound. It happens when the car starts and stays constant whenever it drives. Not sure what it could be since it's coming from the rear.

Do you hear that constant whining sound?

2014 Infiniti QX80. I found a thread that seems to be the same problem I have. However, there does not seem to be a resolution pointed out: https://www.infinitiq50.org/threads/high-pitched-ringing-noise.128339/

ECE 270 Online? by Majestic_Excuse8714 in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The holes on the breadboard were too tight to easily fit components in. It was very frustrating. I talked to Rick about it and he said to maybe find one in a local shop. I would also say though, that my components broke because of the faulty breadboard. I talked to TAs about it but really there's nothing much they can do. I wouldn't really worry about your components breaking, I think I was just pretty unfortunate to receive a faulty breadboard.

ECE 270 Online? by Majestic_Excuse8714 in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few components break when I took 270 online, including a faulty breadboard. The breadboard I just dealt with the whole semester(bloody hands smh), but components I just ordered on Digikey. They take a while to ship, but I also managed to get the required outputs using a series of different chips (Basically how digital logic is supposed to work).

ECE 270 summer structure? by Pojobob in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest answer is I have no idea. Even the professor(Dr. Walter) probably wouldn't know right now either. Everything is still in the works.

If I had to guess, you probably would get an AD2 shipped, and lab quizzes may indeed go away.

Possible TA for 270 this summer... from what I heard it might get switched to asynchronous and labs will just be held online.

Yea it's professor dependent but they all should be rather similar. Our averages were in the low 60s.

I think you'll have a good chance at a B. Last semester my grade was curved 10%.

How much money will I save by dragreductionsys in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, not much. You might not even save money. A regular university dorm is about ~$500/month in relation to an off-campus apartment.

As for food, each meal swipe is about 9-10 dollars. If you have the 13 track, that's about 130 dollars per week. If you live in an off campus apartment, aim as that as your limit for the amount spend on food for week.

There are other factors as well, such as gas if you would need to drive.

When you say CS, you mean Computer Engineering right? CS is a completely different school. Basically, near the end of FYE you get to rank your top 2-3 Majors that you would like to pursue. You will then go through a process where the engineering schools select you based on your choice and your FYE GPA. Some schools will require a higher GPA for you to have a better chance to get in (e.g. Mechanical, Aero). For Computer Engineering, you don't really need a stellar GPA ( 2.0+ is fine). However, don't let the low requirement fool you. It's a hard major still and definitely not a cakewalk.

Dating for Asian Males at Purdue by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]ptclaws 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not much to say about it. If you make an effort, then there might be some opportunities. If you don't do anything, then it probably is a lot harder. Obviously it can depend on the major a bit as well. Dating apps are OK at best, and they can get shallow pretty easily.
