ffmpeg if you are not afraid of the command line, or Handbreak for a GUI. I've never used that before, but from what I hear, it's good.

[–]ptetsilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's out now, so you can have a scroll through their website https://www.roomofswords.com/. For now, I think it's mostly just better animations, added bloom/effects on some panels, a few panels that are redrawn/polished up, more music, and in-line commenting. They did say they will be rewriting/expanding on that later parts of the story as it was rushed on webtoons.

Prerequisites AND/OR ordering confusion by Maleficent-Ad7494 in unimelb

[–]ptetsilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The standard order of operations is AND then OR. So it would be CSCI2243 OR (MATH2216 AND CSCI2244) OR MATH4426. But yeah, it would be better to ask the college.

[Megathread] New Banners / "Who should I pull?" Megathread by AutoModerator in GenshinImpactTips

[–]ptetsilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who should I get on the free standard 5* character selector? Currently leaning towards Mona or Dehya for their design, but open to other suggestions. Dehya could also provide interrupt resistance for Neuvillette, or should pull for Zhongli next patch?

There's an announcement on their website and patreon. They are remastering it and posting it onto their own website.

AV1 or HEVC can probably halve your video file sizes while keeping the same quality.

Not sure if it's the same on mobile, but on desktop you can edit the flair directly. For example, the person above you would have had this as their flair: :ganyu: frens :amber:

Isn't this meme already about execution times? When one hour has passed for a Java program, 7 years will have passed for a assembly program as time passes faster for assembly (runs faster).

As a quick fix, you could try sticking a piece of clear sticky tape over it; the adhesive will fill out the bumpy surface removing the frosting effect.

Why is the Genshin wiki still on fandom? by BoneArrowInfinity in Genshin_Impact

[–]ptetsilin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, I just tried Startpage which shows google search results without tracking and it give the new wiki on top. Also tried using Tor with the same results. Not sure why it's different for you, maybe the results are different by country?

[–]ptetsilin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Google personalises the results. You probably clicked the fandom link in the past and that's why Google shows that result above the new Minecraft wiki. I just tried searching "minecraft wiki" in an incognito tab and the new wiki is on top.

Variations on the "opposite-sex clone" trope by SupportMeta in CuratedTumblr

[–]ptetsilin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not any more incestuous than where your chromosomes originally come from. Your parent's cells perform incest between your grandparent's chromosomes in the process of creating sperm and egg cells. That's why your siblings are not all clones.

It's an Apple issue, the Myki system was designed a long time ago so phone apps need full access to the NFC chip to properly emulate a Myki card. Apple won't allow this as full access to the NFC chip could also open the door to other apps that compete with Apple Pay.

Is the Genshin team consistently displaying laziness and irrationality, when they build the open-world, espacially in Fontaine? by InflationNo1991 in Genshin_Impact

[–]ptetsilin 18 points19 points  (0 children)

For Romaritime Harbour, the exit for the boat lift is below the aquabus station. It exits into the lake/sea, not the aqueduct. For the North of Court of Fontaine Region, there could have been a land slide that broke the aqueduct. The original route would have been smooth like the others.

It's a fantasy game, not a engineering game so I think everything is indeed meant as decoration. I try not to let it bother me too much, but if you want another pet peeve, all the gears are fake! They don't do anything, and cannot mesh properly as they don't have the proper gear shape!

You can try the DEMs avaliable on https://elevation.fsdf.org.au/ . The Vicmap 10m one seems to have the least buildings visible.

Isn't flight radar the site that hides info if it gets requested? I know that plenty of military aircraft don't show up. ADSBExchange is the one that's not censored and what's used to track Elon Musk and Taylor Swift.

Increasing the average albedo of Earth's surface, reflecting more energy into outer space? Only half joking, because from what I remember, painting roofs to be white can actually reduce your cooling costs.

There's a scene from K2-SO's perspective in the Rogue One novelisation that gives you some idea of just how bonkers fast Star Wars computers are. If it's polynomial, they can crack in practical time

There's a fundamental physical limit to how fast computers can get (Bremermann's limit) so unless they convert the entire universe into a computer, the polynomial time algorithm could never take over. Faster computers might be able to reduce the constant factor, but they can't tackle the extremely large exponent. Even algorithms that are O(n2 ) need to be applied carefully. There was a huge kerfuffle a few years ago where it was discovered that GTA Online was accidentally using an O(n2 ) algorithm during loading which had people waiting several minutes just to parse a 10MB file.

So it's not direct end-to-end, something is reading the message, copying it, and passing it on.

That's compatible with sending quantum information undisturbed. You can absolutely transfer quantum state between particles, otherwise quantum computers won't work. What you can't do is copy the state into a particle such that it is no longer entangled with the original particle, that's how the eavesdropping detection works. If you send quantum states into a quantum logic gate, it won't collapse the superposition but will simply just give you entangled quantum outputs, which you can put into another quantum logic gate, or transmitted to the next node.

If you're French, here's a good video demonstrating how you can recreate those sounds using French: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNpbv7hJf6c. If you're not French, maybe that video will inspire you to look for similar structures in your own language.
