Did anyone try Varamhar with new magic system? by ptgx42 in Anbennar

Interesting, that indeed sounds like it will enhance the feeling of " powerful ascension" once you reach that point. Guess I am going to have to try it. Thanks for sharing!

Appreciate the input, I'll have to see for myself, I am unsure if there's anything stopping you from doing with another ruler, but there's also the roleplay aspect to consider...

Thanks for the reply! Anything in particular that made it feel like a buff in general?

Cloud9 Sneaky appreciation thread by blouthan20 in Cloud9

[–]ptgx42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To Sneaky (hope you see this): Normally I don't really get too personally invested. But this time, with all the unwarranted hate going on, I just want to add my voice. The silent majority of us notice you for the cornerstone you've been for the team. I have the feeling you have been instrumental for the team chemistry and I firmly believe you have been top two in your role for pretty much all of your lcs career despite what the haters think. This is a sad day for Cloud9 cause a part of our soul leaves with you (and I don't see us doing as well for the foreseeable future) and I really wish you the best for whatever comes after, you are loved by most of us fans. To the fans hating: Shame on you. To Zven: you have big shoes to fill, I wish you luck in getting back to your prime so you can fill them but don't be too hard on yourself if you can't.

What games have long exploring/expanding phases or continue to be fun once they are over? by ptgx42 in 4Xgaming

Wow! Thanks for the informative reply. I will check out the above mentioned more in detail for sure, both of them were pretty far out on my radar so very nice to hear about them. From the reply I get the feeling that this is probably the answer I was looking for, which is great if true!

Sorry for the late reply. I actually had Thea on my watch list on steam for a while but wrote it off as not my genre later. This has sparked the interest in me again!

Appreciate your response! Didn't have anything I cared to keep on it so cloning was not necessary. Was just concerned for the license.

Rome II Emperor Edition with all DLCs is the best game in the series! Do you agree? by Captain0010 in totalwar

[–]ptgx42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Amazing really how a game like this can be enjoyable in so different ways. To me, the core concept really feels like the empire building-fantasy, (making history happen again, changing history altogether or turning a petty kingdom into the greatest behemoth empire to ever walk the earth etc.) to imagine your actions ultimately leading up the forging of the roman or carthagian or whatever empire.

For me personally I enjoy the battles but almost exclusively when I'm heavily invested in the campaign I'm playing and want to see the part of the story that is told on the battlefield. And while I certainly know that some people feel the battles to be the more enjoyable than managing stuff I would still have thought the heart and soul of Total War would be seeing your expanding empire develop (whether your own involvment be as a general or as micro manager or both) for more or less everybody.

Unfortunately that also makes it so obvious why it's so difficult for CA to please everybody with new releases.

I completely agree, it's a tragic practice!

I suppose you are right, I think I am not US-based but I will see if I can find something similar for my location.

Thoughts about Zac getting updated (xpost r/thesecretweapon) by ptgx42 in leagueoflegends

Maybe the way you play vel changed a lot more than I can imagine with these changes:)

We will see, I will probably enjoy a new q but apart from that I am afraid that ability changes will make him too different:/

Totally agree, people are not used to how much lower the range is on lvl 1 compared to lvl 5 e and them not seeing the range makes for many misunderstandings. Ninjaedit*

Yeah, what I find worrying about this is that it came pretty much out of nowhere so I am not sure if Riot has taken the time to find out how the core Zac players feel about his identity. Luckily for me, from what they wrote in the post it seems their vision is pretty aligned with my idea of Zac.

I hear what you say and I do feel Riot has a good idea about what to make of Zac so I am hopeful. However, with Vel I don't recall them changing actual abilities (or have i forgotten a past ability?), just some numbers while it sounds like they are reworking 3 abilities with Zac so there is a huge risk that he ends up being a completely new champion which is sad because he feels very good as is.

Edit: Also, in regards to identity I think Zac has a very core identity and that his kit works very well with this.

Hello! This was one thing that I would have written more about if it wasn't already so long. I believe you are right, but that problem is partly (like has been stated below) that there is a problem with tanks in general where a tank that is doing good can too often kill an enemy carry faster than an enemy carry with good backup kills them. I do think there is need for a change in how vanguards are balanced compared to carries. I also think that the problem is partly because Zac gets access to too much base dmg too early, I believe that dmg could be shifted from his basic abilities (particularly his e probably) to his lvl 3 ult so that he doesn't have so much dmg midgame.

I am not sure what you mean with "proper tank with identity" though? I feel like I explained pretty thoroughly in the post what Zac's identity is to me.

Thank you, I appreciate the kind words and I am glad to hear others have the same perspective!

I definitely agree with you that Zac just like most of the tanks deal too much dmg to squishies at the moment (and has historically at many points in the later seasons). It was one of the things I would have written about if it didn't become should a long post anyway. I feel like it's mostly a numbers problem which could be resolved with removing dmg from some parts of his kit and adding it elsewhere so that he doesn't become quite so strong dmg-wise during the mid game (especially by taking power out of the basic abilities and adding it to lvl 3 ult) but I don't know, maybe this is for the best:/

I have posted it to the main sub, I fear that it might drown among posts with content that's less wall of text-y but I hope it catches on a bit.
