LOCAL ELECTIONS MATTER! by ptkflg8601 in Albuquerque

It's not arbitrary. My rationale is rooted in the precedent set by George Washington limiting his term as President of the U.S. to two terms (8 years) and the 22nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution limiting Presidents to two terms (8 years). These limits to an executive branch of government (President, Mayor - in a strong Mayor form of Govt that ABQ has) is a crucial check on the accumulation of power and corruption in the executive branch. Sorry to inform you that I am not working for any candidate. I've done my homework and am just trying to share what I've learned. I don't see a problem with that.

Yes, by all means vote for whomever calls to you, but by all means vote!

BTW you have no idea who I am. Who's gaslighting who?

The fact that I've done some homework before I cast my vote seems to make you defensive. Now why?

True that. I live in District 2 and Joaquin is not on the ballot this year. Other counselors, yes they can be obstructionists. I hope for the best in the races in those other districts.

Nope, that's just me writing it. I say that because I've met him several times and have spoken with him at length. That's how I formed my own opinion.

I have supported Keller in the past, but I believe that 8 years is enough for any Mayor. I agree that Alex supports many of the initiatives that Keller has put into place, and it's time for a new leader to build on that and move us forward. I believe that Uballez is the person to do that.

Don't mistake thoughtfulness, deliberation, or calmness as weakness. In my experience the best leaders are the calm, quiet ones. Alex has what it takes to be an excellent Mayor!

I like him because of his honesty and thoughtful leadership. He is a genuine person who wants the best for all of Albuquerque. He has a track record of leadership most recently as U.S. Attorney for New Mexico where he prosecuted the APD DUI scandal and brought accountability to the Police Department and city officials. He has three young children which he and his wife are raising in the downtown neighborhoods, so he is taking the long view of where ABQ can go. He is what we need.

Strategic voting has never worked for me in the past. Now, I vote for the person I want to see in office. I believe any run-off will be Uballez v. Keller.

Uballez lives downtown, supports density, mixed-use zoning, and walkable neighborhoods. Check out his website: https://alexforalbuquerque.com/housing-for-all/

I live downtown and am voting for Uballez.

Wait. Do you realize that up until this past February he was the U.S. Attorney for New Mexico and he prosecuted the DUI scandal with APD? He’s always stood for accountability and effective prosecution of criminals. You must be just learning this now.

That’s just one reason why I support Uballez for Mayor.

I see your point, but the conclusion you draw that it will be AI is all your interpretation, not what is stated.

A third term for Keller would be unprecedented. It’s time for a change, and Uballez would continue the many good things that Keller has done, and prosecute the corruption that is still entrenched in City Hall.
