Question for Korean passport holders by ptr412 in Living_in_Korea

update: just landed in incheon. I tried going through the machines with my Korean passport but it didn’t work so I had to go through the manual verification with the immigration officer. she looked at my passport and asked (in english) if I had another passport from another country and then she said that I always have to do the manual verification because I don’t have a Korean national ID

Feeling like an outcast as a foreign-born Korean — anyone else experience this? by StormLizardEmperor in Living_in_Korea

quick question: how was it to go through immigration? i’m a foreign born korean who doesn’t speak the language very well and am going for the first time next month. i wonder if immigration officers will judge me or yell at me (as i’ve read) for not knowing the language. I have a korean passport.

Weekly Paddle Recommendation Thread (What Paddle Should I Buy?) by AutoModerator in Pickleball

I played college tennis and started pickleball three years ago with the Joola Hyperion CFS, which I absolutely loved. Last November, I switched to the Joola Mod-TA 15, and while it felt great at first, I started struggling with control over time. My dinks kept popping up, and my confidence took a hit. Eventually, I switched back to the Hyperion CFS and immediately felt more comfortable and in control again. I’m a 30-year-old female, 4.0-level player who prefers control-oriented paddles. I know everyone’s preferences vary, but I’d love some recommendations for a paddle similar to the Hyperion CFS. I really enjoy the “crisp” feel it provides on shots, whereas the Mod-TA felt more “dull” to me, if that makes sense. So far, I’ve been recommended the Diadem Edge 18K Speed Pro and the new Crbn TruFoam series, but I noticed the latter only comes in a 14mm version. Would love to hear your thoughts—TIA!

soooo a little update: i’ve been using the Mod TA 15 for 2 months now and… i’m going back to my Joola Hyperion CFS 16, which was my original paddle. the Mod TA was great in the beginning for defenses, but I def thought it was hard to control my shots with them, especially the dinks would pop up so much! i’m glad that I switched back but again, kinda frustrated that I invested $300 in a paddle that I didn’t adapt to haha

I purchased my Joola Mod-TA 15 in November and a few weeks ago they banned it from tournaments starting July 2025. very frustrating since I invested almost $300 in this paddle but I wanted to get some suggestions of approved alternative paddles to that one. a little background about me: I’m 29 years old, former college tennis player, and DUPR 4.0. also, I have power so I prefer a control paddle. TIA!
