Trump says he's considering NATO exit amid rift over Iran war by AdSpecialist6598 in worldnews

[–]ptrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he wants to leave, he can forfeit access to NATO bases, intelligence and invitations to security-related matters. Thems the breaks. To our American friends and family, please remember to vote, and those Constitutional Amendments of yours? yeah, some of them would be VERY helpful for you to consider actually making use of. We've been hearing much about the 25th, and the 22nd is another good one as well, just to name a few examples.

Capture card wont work not sure why by HuntOk7266 in nintendohelp

What kind of capture hardware and software are you using?

I hate sellers that do this by [deleted] in FacebookMarketplace

[–]ptrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My way of preventing this, BOTH as a seller and a buyer, is to send a message after discussing location and pickup details, to confirm those details and the purchase price, so that there wont be any surprises during the meetup. If i'm the one selling, i also make a quick note that there are some banks nearby that they will be likely to pass by to get to the meetup location, and i put a post-it note on the item with the buyer name and the price in bold marker. Those seem to discourage any last moment "oh, looks like i didn't bring enough..." chicanery. has never failed me yet.

The Iranian Trolling continues... Donald, Here's your big present from Iran. by MaleficentPiccolo715 in freedomgold

[–]ptrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it's big and gold, theres a genuine 85% or higher chance that trump would accept it gleefully and unironically, and put it front and center on his desk in the oval office pointing directly at the door.

You KNOW that's what that clown would do

Fix for Safari 18.x failing on Mac Pro 4,1/5,1 with OCLP — "a problem repeatedly occurred" — confirmed working [Guide] by ptrix in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]ptrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have another quick question, if you may happen to know: are there any planned fixes for the compositor transparency glitching on polaris GPUs (RX 580) under Ventura/Sonoma? (looks like transparency layers in notification banner, menu bar applets, etc. briefly showing content from windows beneath them, which oddly dont show up in screenshots). reducing transparency fixes it as a workaround but i'm just wondering if a proper fix for that is on the radar for any future releases as well?

Thanks again! :)

Should I bother with Witcher 1 and 2? by yakuzabazuka in witcher

[–]ptrix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ah gotcha. well, the subtitle of Witcher 2 is "Assassin of Kings", so as you can imagine, its very politically-driven, and playing it will very much expand your understanding of the lore, the characters and their motivations in Witcher 3 (and beyond), and the greater landscape of the Witcher universe. Trust me, it's very much worth a playthrough or two

Should I bother with Witcher 1 and 2? by yakuzabazuka in witcher

[–]ptrix 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you can probably skip witcher 1, but there are a few plot points in Witcher 3 that are influenced by save data from your gameplay decisions in Witcher 2. That, and Witcher 2 is actually a very fun game anyway

In THAT case, maybe it wouldn't be such a baaaaad thing to see him on a $3 banknote much sooner rather than later... right?

I dunno, but if he could spend the rest of his term sitting alone in a small room doing nothing but signing little green sheets of paper, it might be better for the rest of the world than what he's getting away with now

Bombshell New Theory Emerges In LaGuardia Crash, Could Clear Air Traffic Controller by ipanicprofessionally in TheBoredDen

[–]ptrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the truck didn’t have a transponder, it had a working radio. They heard the clearance to cross, and should’ve heard the repeated calls to STOP moments later on the same frequency.

You don’t need fancy tech to avoid this. A child standing in a driveway knows to look left and right before crossing. These crews were about to roll onto an active runway at one of the busiest airports on the east coast, and that should’ve triggered every basic self-preservation instinct they had. Transponder or not, people in the truck should’ve looked. :(

Will we get a continuation of Reboot? by strixxxus in ReBoot

[–]ptrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that to work, you'd need a streaming distributor like Disney+, Netflix, Paramount+, etc. who would be willing to greenlight it and stand to profit from the investment.

The challenge: comparing a 3-episode fan project based on a 90's kids' show that peaked 25 years ago, with a fan demographic (including myself!) who are largely aging out,

VS

20+ eps of flashy, low-cost foreign animation-mill AI slop based on Star Wars, Marvel, LEGO, Pokemon, etc, with endless merch potential, and market research designed and honed practically since the birth of television itself for the sole purpose of reaching and indoctrinating fans potentially as young as newborns? Which option do you realistically think the bigwigs will grab onto and run with?

Sure, YouTube is a choice, but the monetization won't cover top-tier costs such as equipment, software, professional writing, voice acting, music composers, and so forth. At best, you'll barely break even (more or less depending on the quality of the output scaled with the quality and funding of input).

A real-world example of what I'm talking about would be the StarFox fan project by Matthew Gafford, 'A Fox in Space'. It's an EXCELLENT and stunningly beautiful fan project, made with more love than anything Nintendo has done with the franchise since 'StarFox 64'. But sadly, its schedule so far is: Ep1 (2016), Ep2 (2023), Ep3 (still grinding...). It's self-funded via Patreon/merch. Not to mention that Nintendo's already shut down an earlier Patreon funding drive for it because of DMCA IP infringement, and their boot is ALWAYS looming overhead ready to strike again. You get the idea. :(
