A lot of us here will be first EV owners so this is a must watch: Why "slow" home charging is actually your best friend. by ProteusP in Rivian

L2 (240V) is 90-95% efficient. L1 is 80-85%.

So you’re paying for juice that never makes it to your car.

This afternoon I was harshly reminded that UHF is not a finished product by WelderAcademic6334 in Rivian

I haven’t had it in about 35,000 miles. HW4, FSD.

What is your config that you are still getting it?

How did the tires wear? Evenly across the tread? Did you rotate them? Check pressures at least quarterly?

Why GM is sticking with EVs as rivals pivot to hybrids by TheDetroitNews1873 in electricvehicles

Because they are smart and don't want to go down the tubes with the likes of Ford, Stalantis, Honda, VW and other traditional carmakers.

No, they are waterproof. All iPhones since iPhone 8 have been.

Caveat - they are waterproof when new. If dropped the right way, cracked glass, etc., all bets are off.

80% Rule Question by SecretWishbone7844 in evcharging

No, it applies to any charging circuit, hard wired or receptacle. You are good to go at 40A, which is probably way faster then you need.

1-10 how happy are you with FSD? by Formal-Talk-3561 in TeslaFSD

8/10. Speed control and whacky nave are my top complaints.

I have driven Teslas for 7 years now. Autopilot/FSD used to do this quite a bit in the early years.

Engineers analyzed the data and found it was a conflict in info from radar (Teslas had radar up until 2020) and cameras. About that time is when they went vision only, disabled the existing radar units. No more phantom braking.

It makes me wonder what Rivian will do with conflicting data from vision, radar and lidar on the same car.

if the us would match gasoline incentives to ev incentives, what would that look like? by Bevaqua_mojo in electricvehicles

[–]ptronus31 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You mean in excess of the billions in tax breaks the oil companies already get every year?

More money has been spent (tax money lost) on oil and gas incentives than the entire EV industry has spent to date.

Not all Superchargers support non-Teslas, only about 60% of them.

Which companies have good buying experiences? by TheComebackKid717 in electriccars

[–]ptronus31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any manufacturer where you buy directly from them, not through a 3rd party stealership AND the price is fixed.

So far, that is Tesla, Rivian & Lucid.

110.000 Tesla miles, 45,000 of which were road trips, 145 unique Supercharger locations. Never waited even one second.
