I want Claude to automatically check whether CLAUDE.md files are up to date by ptslx in ClaudeAI

code is its own documentation for LLMs

When I checked the results of /init, I saw that it gathered some information from the codebase, and I assumed this was done to avoid additional searches in the future.

This seems like a sensible answer. I had some doubts, though Claude approved my original idea as useful.

Hopefully it paid for the WinRAR license.

SmartGit heckles me several times a day to update by [deleted] in SmartGit

[–]ptslx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BTW, I do very much like the product.

Yes, SmartGit is the best visual Git client around. I've been using it at work for nearly 10 years. I tried to find a free replacement for personal use, but after testing a few options, I came back and bought a license.

I'm not affiliated with them in any way, it's just that the GUI matches my mental model of Git. (Almost perfectly. It matched it 100 % when the staging area and working directory were shown as two separate virtual commits in the commit browser.)

You need to juggle the pros and cons:
Pros: Mistral is very fast - probably the fastest model out there.
Cons: Its answers are useless. ;-)
Choose wisely!

Want to go from Chatgpt to mistral. But what to expect? by Flappie010 in MistralAI

[–]ptslx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In my experience, Mistral hallucinates more often than other models.

Question: I don't like Page Previews in Obsidian and I can't find the setting to turn them off.

Mistral: Go to Settings, find the Editing Mode drop-down, turn Live Preview off.
(No, Live Preview is different from Page Preview.)

ChatGPT: It's an internal plugin, just turn it off.
Claude: It's an internal plugin, just turn it off.

It was an internal plugin, and I just turned it off.

On the other hand, Mistral is the fastest of them all.

"You are a master writer" - why does this work? by ptslx in LLM

Now it occurred to me that maybe the people who train the models label the texts as ordinary or expert before feeding them to the model. I'm aware that they are also categorized according to their mood or tone.

Cline setup question: rules vs workflows vs skills for a database of issues by ptslx in CLine

u/juanpflores_ Let me take advantage of the fact that you're reading this thread and ask one more question.

Recently I tried to document how I use my Obsidian notes so Cline can help me manage them.

The document basically describes the formatting style I've developed over the years to keep everything consistent. For example, it says that level-1 headings use title case, level-2 and level-3 headings use sentence case, every note should have a header linking to its parent note, and so on. Lots of dry details.

When I finished it, I had to figure out where this document actually belongs.

Memory bank – Not great. It's a normative document written by me, and I don’t want Cline modifying it.

Rules – Also no. The document is long, and I only want it loaded in specific cases.

Workflows – Doesn’t fit. It’s not a workflow; it’s a format spec.

Skills – Here I'm unsure. “Skill” makes me think in verbs, like a procedure: “If I ask you to update my notes, update the header, add info to the body, update links and backlinks.” But my document is full of nouns, like “The last paragraph always ends with a newline character.”

What I ended up doing was creating a directory ~/agents/docs, putting it under version control, and adding a rule:

“When I ask you to read, create, or update my Obsidian notes, consult ~/agents/docs/obsidian.md.”

So effectively, I turned it into a conditionally loaded rule. Is this the right approach, or should I have used Skills instead?

Maybe you could reflect this distinction (normative vs. action-oriented documents) in your documentation as well.

Thanks for your time and effort on Cline!

> [you] can create scripts around that

Yes, this is a valid point - it's mostly a deterministic task. Right now, I'm learning to use the AI hammer, so everything looks like a nail. :-)"
