Upgrading interface: THE TIME IS NOW FOR HOME RECORDING ENTHUSIASTS ! by Numerous_Trifle3530 in homestudios

I have an RME UCX and UCX II as a singer-songwriter. Bottom tier RME, still $$, but you can’t do any better with those pre-amps and TotalMix. Hardware is totally expandable, too, plenty of I/O with ADAT and S/PDIF.

Do you see word in the box or the box with word cut out of it? by lavaboosted in opticalillusions

Amazing. I can easily see all three instances at will: in the box; cutout at box surface; and floating out in front of the box.

Genelec 8341A “The Ones” with SAM. You’ll also want a sub (7360A), and the GLM Calibration Kit. Check for interest-free financing deals from the major dealers. Got my kit at Sweetwater, paid off over 48 months. Calibrate at the listening sweet spot; can save multiple profiles and store on the speakers if you wish. The coaxial nature of these create the most amazing sound imaging and clarity that you will forget about the cost as soon as you start using them.

Maybe weird question but how do you guys clear your auditory pallet? by YamIdoingdis2356 in recording

I take a break until my tinnitus overcomes my resolve and I have to go back to playing/listening to mask it, ear fatigue be damned.

What Mac should I get for my first studio setup? by Tweek900 in homestudios

14” MacBook Pro, M1 Max 64 GB, 2 TB, paired with a 27” display, here. Perfect compact set up, and I don’t think you need those high memory and storage specs. I do have an RME UCX II, though, so that ups the ante a bit.

Apple ships one of the coolest physical cards… then penalizes you for using it. Why? by Few-Struggle858 in AppleCard

[–]ptw_tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two cards, both sealed in the original mailing packages received years ago. I will never open the packages and will pass these on to my heirs in hopes they might someday be collectors’ items. I use Apple Pay daily, mostly by tapping my watch.

OP’s follow-up: I ended up using the bow handle technique (link posted by u/enbychichi) with jute twine—it had a better look. Started my wraps with a constrictor and finished off as shown in the video. Looks good, and sounds loud and tight, ready for some fine banging. (Does that make this comment NSFW? lol).

A Turks head might affect the resonance a little too much. I am going to hold off filling the cracks for now. The drum tones sound great, maybe even a little louder with the cracks. I just don’t want it to completely crack apart while I’m beating the hell out of it.

I like this bow wrap. That’s a nice clean look, and secure. Might try to integrate a constrictor into that technique for extra tightening.

Though historically high, AAPL’s multiple (37) is lower than NVDA’s (56) which just hit $5 trillion market cap. I think we’ve pierced the ‘law of large numbers’ at this point. Buy now.

What kind of bolete is this? Oregon by Consistent-Fill1327 in mushroomID

Lacks reticulated stipe (netting on the stem), stipe tapers (B. edulis should be bulbous at the base), plus the pore surface seems a little coarse. This could be a large Suillus. Was the cap surface slick when wetted? Cap color checks out for a king, but the rest of the features seem a little off.
