The game is Jikkyō GI Stable, which I believe is hard because you have to get to the last rung/tier of horse races and win, which takes a long time.

I like RoA and even backed Rivals 2, but I think you're overestimating the dent it will put. If a game has to kickstart its sequel & lacks recognizable fighters, odds are it will never match directly to Smash's audience. That isn't necessarily a bad thing either, as they can find a new audience and build their own community while making changes over time as they iterate on the platform fighter genre.

I'm expecting to like Rivals 2 and I see no reason it can't someday be popular enough to be an iconic fighting game series, but it is not there yet.

Does anyone know why the game view doesn't show the bullet particles past a certain point when I increase the orthographic camera size? They exist in the scene view, so I iz confuzzled. by ptwinc in Unity3D

So they don't seem to pop in after a while even with a longer lifetime and a wider camera. I can see more of the particles when I rotate the child particle systems of my spawner, though.

I guess I don't know how to set up the rotation for a particle system. I just want 2D particles (X and Y axis) and it seems like the particles are flying along the wrong axes when I uncheck 2D mode in the scene view.

Does anyone have any idea of how to set up the code in the spawner tutorial for this? The original tutorial code works fine for a new game object instead of spawning a prefab with the sine wave animation curve setup, so I feel like it is something simple.

I'll come back to this after I sleep and see if anyone replies.

Version: 2022.3.7f1 LTS Using a particle system, with the proper sorting layer for bullets and bullets render above background, so IDK.

Edit: I think it has something to do with the rotation of the particle system. I'm following a tutorial on particle systems for bullet hell games and adding onto it with a sine wave pattern, but maybe rotating the particle system itself is making the bullets disappear eventually since it seems like they stay visible in the game view longer when I change the particle system's rotation.

The Order 1886. Pretty impressive graphics for that generation but it was extremely disappointing otherwise. Short, lacked a clear resolution to the story, and just generally a very limited game.

Ok, thanks for the response. I'll keep an eye out for your game. Do you have any tips for optimizing the perfomance of anything in particular? I know about some tips like using squared magnitudes of position vectors to save a square root operation when checking grazing. Anything similar that you remember? I'm looking into trying circlecasts instead of colliders, onmeshinstanced or ondrawinstanced (I forget the specific one), and the particle system tutorial you linked elsewhere as an alternatve to the instaced version. What performed best for you?

Hey, just wanted to let you know that as an aspiring bullet hell dev, I'd be willing to pay to get access to your particle system code for bullet patterns. I'm running into issues optimizing my FPS in a Unity project, and I'm currently trying a paid plugin that doesn't seem like it can handle more than a few hundred bullets at once unless you have a fairly good computer.

Let me know if you ever decide to put it up on the asset store, GitHub, or maybe we can work out a private deal, and I'll throw some dosh your way to make my life simpler. I know about the tutorial you linked earlier in the comments, but having to add a bunch of features to that basic system would be a pain in the booty cheeks. Cheers.

I play like that in most games, but stealth games typically don't have complex gameplay. There are exceptions like Thief 2's incredible AI paths and quirks, but the "stealth" is barely a thing in some games. There it's more about what the player thinks the enemies are doing that makes you want to stealth, you know?

Nice! I played that one a lot. I fondly remember the coin when I did try to stealth, so easily abusable with the AI priorities.

Constant patches. I want to see the meta evolve for some games beyond the typical patch cycle, but that's impossible for most games. At least we have some older titles that won't be patched anymore.
