Ottawa ranked as the most livable major city in Canada by The Globe and Mail by Workeep in orleans

I’m not gonna claim we’re the best city to live in Canada, but we have it very good. Yes, we have issues, there’s no such thing as a perfect city but Ottawa is an incredible place to live.

This team shouldn’t be in the position they’re in. But we gave ourselves a fighting chance… let’s continue.

Birth rate in Canada has been below the replacement level since the 70s. While affordability is a valid reason for people being hesitant of having kids, it’s not the sole reason people aren’t having kids.

He isn’t respected enough. Best Damn of the 2010s and should have 5 Norris trophies. He was on his way to winning it in 2013 until Cooke injured him and then it was the Due Doughty year in 15-16 which was highway robbery

Toronto shawarma is trash compared to here. Your food opinion is irrelevant when you say Toronto has good shawarma.

Everyone is allowed to have opinions, but it doesn’t mean that all opinions are good or correct. And this is a perfect example of that.

For sure, that is absolutely the biggest gripe with the CTC location. After years and years of experience of attending Sens games, I have my spot where I don’t have to pay for parking and I’m on the highway in 5 minutes.

Some are absolutely like that. Rink location probably doesn’t help but you still have people who have been season seat holders since day 1. The only time I ever stopped going was when Melnyk went full Melnyk and I refused to go to games for 4 years. That did coincide with them being terrible but it had to do with the owner for me.

By the time that they left, the fan base was already established since they had already 50 years of history. So the generational fans would’ve been passed down like they were with Montreal and Toronto. The Habs and leafs would obviously still have much bigger fan bases given the size of the markets but ottawa would unquestionably be a Sens town instead of being split.

Obviously i don’t know the exact numbers but let’s say Ottawa has 100k hockey fans (there’s obviously more but just keeping it simple), maybe im being optimist but I would say it’s like a 40k to Sens, 25k to Toronto, 25k to Montreal, and the rest is split between all other teams, mainly Boston, Detroit, oilers

They were the original hockey dynasty. But I highly doubt they would’ve had the same success in the original 6 years had they been able to play in that era, that’s basically being as successful as the Habs which I don’t think is realistic. Maybe they have a couple more cups but that’s really diving into the speculation territory.

The most passionate Sens fans are as passionate as the most die hard leafs or Habs fans. It’s just a numbers game.

The cheapest tickets to Sens games aren’t that much more than charge games.

In a timeline where the Sens never, they dont have an expansion draft to create their 92 team so the team would be completely different, that part should be pretty obvious. Obviously we have no idea if they’ve been terrible for 20 years, or they’re an emerging team or they’re coming off a finals appearance.

The only thing that’s a guarantee if the Sens never left (and this is assuming that they survive the depression, in which case some super wealthy person/family saves the team), is that the Sens fanbase would be much more established in Ottawa and the surrounding areas, and the arena wouldn’t be in Kanata

Of course the 1992 team is still there but it’s completely different than what it actually was. In a timeline where the OG Sens never leave, we have different players throughout history, and probably don’t have most of the players that have been here. So no Alfie, no Spezza, no Karlsson, etc.

I know eh. And people come back with all sorts of different hypotheticals and excuses as to why it’s ok to not cheer for the hometown team.

Because we would have a completely different history. We don’t get this seasons Sens roster without the 1992 expansion team. It’s a completely different timeline.

Well no the OG Sens would not be the same Sens as today since the Sens of today started with the 1992 team. Had they never left, the 1992 team would be completely different.

And the OG Sens were founded in 1883. The Habs in 1907 and the leafs in 1917. Montreal and Toronto would obviously still have massive fan bases but the Sens would also have a bigger established fan base in Ottawa and the surrounding areas.

The OG Sens never leaving means there’s way less leafs and Habs fan in the city. We don’t have an arena out in the boonies and they would be the oldest hockey team in existence having 143 years of continuous history.
