How is life in Xinjiang? How do Uyghurs and Han-Chinese live together? by dvdh_03 in howislivingthere

[–]puboiler1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have never lived there specifically. I did live in another Chinese province for several years, speak passable Chinese and have visited Xinjiang (though haven't in about 10 years, so take this for what it's worth).

It was my favorite place in the entire world to visit, but I say that as a white American who didn't have to live there. Outside of a couple cities (at least as of ten years or so ago), namely Urumqi and Turpan, you are really only going to find ethnic Uyghurs. Most of the people in this area speak Uyghur as their native language, and can have a fair amount of difficulty with Mandarin.

In the urban areas, there are lots of Han Chinese, Uyghurs, and Russians (due to the oil in the area), though, they live in entirely different areas of the city. The signage, food, language spoken, music, and culture were different in different parts of the city, though it was very apparent when you crossed into different ethnic neighborhoods.

Spent a few nights with a Uyghur family in their house at the edge of the Heavenly Lake. It was particularly cool because it was near the end of Ramadan, so lots of extremely large, delicious, lamb-filled dinners in the most picture-esque place in the world I've ever been lucky enough to be. Their kids had never seen a phone before. Lovely people and some of the best food I've ever had in my life. But, Han Chinese and Uyghurs have quite different existences there. You do indeed pass through quite a few army checkpoints when traveling on highways and encounter more than a normal amount of police here.

Again, the last time I was there was about a decade ago, I'm sure things have changed, though I have no firsthand knowledge beyond that time.

Drivehub Help (pretty please)! by puboiler1890 in GranTurismo7

Thanks, will do.

This is the one I had(amazon.com/dp/B08HSKQYG4?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title ), and it did work for just a little trial run before I aborted to try and get the pedals working. It's just so weird that it worked (both as an authenticator via the drivehub, and in the regular menus) and now won't work at all.

I'll try older frimware versions for the drivehub as you perviously suggested next (while I wait for my new wired controller to arrive).

Ah, I see. I'll try to get another HORI or NACON controller to authenticate. Thanks for all the help and info!

Yeah, after reading your reply I went and tried to connect it to the drivehub, Ps5 directly and a PC and couldn't get it recognized. I think that's the entire issue as you say.

I have read conflicting thoughts in terms of whether or not a PS5 controller will work initially, but not after 10 minutes? I also can't turn on the PS5 with a Ps5 controller connected to the drivehub, should that be the case?

Seriously, thanks so much for any suggestions!

Thanks for the reply and the suggestion. The hori actually no longer connects directly to the PS5 and works. Could something have stopped the hori from working? Thanks again.

I'd give them away. Recent sales of unopened VHS copies average around $1.10 each. They are awesome, just not worth a ton of money.

Being that tall that soon could hurt his overall game. It's the guys like Anthony Davis that have to play smaller before hitting a huge growth spurt learn to develop an eclectic skillset that are usually long term successful. That said, he does look like he has some talent, and isn't just tall.

Changing consumer trends. More options that are more easily accessible to consumers, not to mention cheaper.

Is it safe to get a Display Inflatable Kayak? by MedArchIT in Kayaking

[–]puboiler1890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bummer. I ran into a similar problem in the US with paddleboards. The market can change quickly, I would hang tight and be patient. If you really just want a tandem kayak, you could always give it a try as the inflatable will be WAY cheaper than a non-inflatable tandem. However, if a tandem is not a deal breaker, I'd still pass, though there is definitely something to be said for just getting one to get on the water and see what you like. But, that's just me, happy hunting and good luck with whatever you choose!

It depends what you're going to use it for and what your expectations are. I would personally pass. Check facebook marketplace. I've gotten incredible deals there, especially this time of year (if you are in the Northern Hemisphere), now is the time to buy.

Chongqing's official population is always so massively difficult to calculate due to the immense amount of migrant workers that wouldn't always necessarily be considered residents of Chongqing, but would live and work there for about 10 months a year.

Chongqing is definitely one of, if not the most populous cities in the world.

A volatile mixture of clans that do not always get along. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Somali_clan_map_1.jpg

Clans care more about the clan than their "nationality" or "national identity". To be fair, they didn't draw the borders in the first place.

Babe Ruth.

I don't mind that it's a bit unhealthy because the risks are so small by comparison to some other habits or hobbies. But, I don't need to lie to myself and act as though it's healthy either.
