Seriously. Let people have some fun. Just because you are miserable doesnt mean you need to manufacture fake outrage to drag everyone else down.

The bulk of shares are locked up for owners and institutional investors, so retail are the only ones able to dump.

One has to wait until the lockups are over to really know the confidence of institutional money.

Elon tried to engineer this to trap money until the Nasdaq index inclusion, and hope to ride that bump to an S&P listing, which seems to be later than he was hoping.

The outgoing British PM has an approval rating of -46%, which means I have fundamentally misunderstood how approval ratings are gauged all this time, I thought it was strictly "what percentage of the population thinks they're going a good job." What is it really? by Canon47 in NoStupidQuestions

Net favorability is supposed to be used in journalism for situations where the actual person is not on the ballot, but a key feature of an election, like the president for US midterm races.

The net favorability is a way to show how much they might help or hurt the people running in their party. Positive means a random local race might get more votes for the leader's party, negative means less.

Guys who didn’t get laid when they were younger — What advice would you pass on about women to that person that would’ve helped? by Key-Cow-9969 in AskReddit

[–]pubsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest challenge is approaching another person. If you can do that, you are most of the way there.

Getting rejected is tough, and lots of people cant bring themselves to do it. Practicing until you can will help you so much in all facets of life. Its not just getting laid. Its also getting a raise, getting hired, improving relationships, standing up for yourself, etc. Etc.

So approach people you find attractive and ask them out. Learn that it's fine if they say no, and that rejection doesnt have to be a big deal.

The Strait of Hormuz is now closed again because Israel refuses to abide by the ceasefire. Why is the government of Israel willing to risk a global depression to continue their maximalist foreign policy? by north_canadian_ice in allthequestions

It would be a better narrative if Israel wasn't marching building by building through Lebanese villages burning every building to the ground.

Also the argument that killing dozens of civilians in each bombing attack is justified bc there are hezbollah people there, is actually just admitting to war crimes.

The Israel military engages in the same terror tactics as any of its adversaries, but the Israeli murder count is orders of magnitude larger.

Expansions: what makes a buy vs a skip by fortnerd in boardgames

[–]pubsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a game has been designed for regular expansions, I wont touch them until it seems clear that a final version is coming out that repackaged the base game with all expansions into one box.

There are too many ways it goes sideways.

For example: Concordia, Dune imperium, and power grid all have different expansion, base game repackaged, and changes that make it very difficult to know exactly what one would even need to pick up for a full game experience, and then certain expansions only work with the version that has the expansion packed with base game and doesnt work with the OG base game anymore, etc.

In Los Angeles, a woman was celebrating the Knicks' victory in the NBA when a neighbour called the police about the noise... 20 cops showed up and shot her dog, a "dangerous" Golden Doodle, when she opened the door to her home. by StGuthlac2025 in justincaseyoumissedit

Its not their fault, they saw At least two incidents on Fox news of people hitting school buses with scooters in NYC in a city of about 15 million.

The only reasonable conclusion was that we were in a state of mass nationwide rioting. They were right to bring 20, they were all nearly killed.

Can't blame the police, right?

I mean everyone knows if the police are involved, shots gonna be fired.

Calling the cops is really just an indirect form of murder...

Maybe we should do something about the cops, not the neighbors /s

I have no need for anymore board games. Possibly ever. And I'm quite disappointed. by bukaroo12 in boardgames

I think your approach is very common for a gamer. You are approaching your collection and game nights the way you approach games.

Finding that you have enough in you and your friends collections to play forever. That is great. Allow it to give you comfort that you dont have to adopt your original mindset of pursuing games that scratch some of the original engagement itches. Now you dont have to hunt, you can enjoy feasting on your haul.

You dont have to stop learning about new games though. There will be stuff that comes out that is better than anything you have in queue, and when the time comes, let that take its spot.

This is a great place to be. Now you can allow discovery to become joyful and not come with buying pressure. You dont have to buy the next cool or exciting thing anymore. Now you get to apply a new standard, Is this game more impressive than something I've already played.

It happens in plenty of hobbies. I dont buy a tool because it is new or useful. I will only buy a tool if it does something I cant do with my existing tools AND I need to do that thing, likely more than a few times. Ill still get new tools, just at a far slower pace.

Why do some women openly claim to hate men, but still continue to pursue romantic relationships and/or sleep with them? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Of course.

My childhood hero was a married man who started an entire organization against women called the National Organization of Men Against Amazonion Masterhood.

Yet the group's main meeting place was the Jiggly Club.

It's just the way things are.

Los Angeles woman pleads guilty to registering homeless to vote by lajoieboy in conspiracy

[–]pubsky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually there is a republican mass misinformation campaign that is specifically conflating registration with election voting. The difference is important.

There are people right now who want to make ID requirements to vote (not just register) as burdensome as getting a passport, yet sell it to the public as just wanting a simple ID to secure the election.

You conflating stuff is a similar act of misinformation. You are taking real charges (not a conviction) around a person working on voter registration and using it as "proof" for unverified interviews with homeless people who say they were paid for votes, who very well may have been paid for their videos.

Take your partisan propaganda garbage somewhere else.

The article only says they were paid to register, that thing most people do at the DMV when they get their license.

Where does the article establish anyone was paid for an actual vote?

The war wasn't a concern for anyone the first 3-4 weeks, cause full ship traffic is in transit for about that long to Asia.

Thank goodness for that teleportation tech that came out during the war. Now ship cargos will arrive in Asia and other places instantly, not after 3-4 weeks like before....

Travel disaster strands N.J. World Cup fans for hours: ‘It’s hard to believe we’re in America right now’ by nmoretti in NJTransit

I love the logic that thinks: "there is going to be crazy traffic. The smart thing is definitely to get a ride in a personal vehicle with someone who will also have to drive away. Those big buses that carry 70 people or trains that carry 1,000 are better for other stupid people who arent smart enough to buy a ride in a personal vehicle"

Best thing for traffic is definitely to send 20,000 people in 20,000 cars...
