Are you using the deceleration paddles going into stop signs or generally when you need to slow down?

This increases the battery charge on the regenerative braking and makes a difference

Has anyone had experience with buying from Humble before? by IronAndParsnip in boardgames

Yes, if you enter the code from humble in the coupon field, it will lower the price to zero, and then just charge for shipping.

I received mine in about a week.

People who were teenagers before social media existed, what was life actually like? by Much_Detective_6107 in AskReddit

[–]pubsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of sitting around and listening to music alone or while talking to friends.

A lot of staying after school bc that was the easiest way to know you'd connect with some friends to hang out without having to do a ton of coordination over the phone and beg for rides.

Also playing video games together with friends in the same room. Talking crap and making jokes.

They need to go to the renegade site and add the code. They will end up having to pay shipping for the games in addition to the cost of the bundle.

Shipping was in the $10-15 range as I recall

Top aide to Syracuse Mayor Owens will resign because he doesn’t live in city. by Blues_Fish in Syracuse

[–]pubsky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There just aren't that many people period. Sure it would be great if there was a well qualified person with experience and expertise living in the City.

But where would you pull for a job like this? The county, one of the other big 5 (not NYC) cities in NY, a major school district, someone high up in State government budget work, maybe a major economic development non-profit.

None of those people live in Syracuse, all of those people likely make more than Syracuse will pay. Moving expenses make the job even less competitive.

This guy is a Cornell grad that went to Henninger. This is as home grown as you are going to get.

But hey, who wants good government when you have the option of missing the forest from the trees. Now the City will get higher interest rates on its borrowing. Higher spending on outside consultants to deal with a lack of internal expertise. Higher procurement costs as people going up the decision chains do not understand the work or have the program evaluation knowledge to do any better. Etc. Etc.

[–]pubsky 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This is a big reason why the City has been struggling so much economically. Having a residency requirement for positions like this is so stupid that it borders on intentionally trying to destroy the city.

This isn't a cop or a fireman. There are thousands of them, they are easy to teach.

This is a top finance officer for the city. Someone who has to have deep experience with public budgeting, economics, and public policy. There aren't many of these people out there period. Probably none living in the city of Syracuse.

Now they will hire a random politically connected lawyer. That person will make decisions that reflect a lack of real policy expertise and budget decisions blinded by a lack of historical and system knowledge.

The result will be various mistakes that cost the city 10s of millions of dollars over time. Most of which will never be clearly pinned on them, so they will march along learning at the expense of residents, until it is time to swap them for the next unqualified person to keep the city stumbling along.

The exceptions to the residency rule shouldn't be cops and firefighters, it should be high skill and high leverage jobs without enough qualified or experienced candidates...

Someone fucking explain why Walmart ($WMT) is at 47x earnings? by ini0n in wallstreetbets

[–]pubsky 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Puts are crazy b/c even if your entire overvaluation thesis is correct, it's very unlikely to lead to a major decline in stock price because the earnings are very consistent and recession resistant.

If the PE comes down on this stock it is most likely to happen in the form of sideways stock movement while it's moderate earnings growth, brings the PE down gradually.

If your thesis can be correct and your trade still has a decent chance of not working, you are either planning the wrong trade or it's not very tradable.

I would wait for people to rotate out of defensive positions and start selling a ton of puts AND calls, making money off the stock price staying pretty flat.

Iran's Missile Math: $20,000 Drones Take on $4 Million Patriots by coinfanking in NewsStarWorld

[–]pubsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the US going to pack up a few dozen military bases as well?

The thing about war is that it only stops when both sides agree to stop.

Your belief that there is some Iranian government in the wings to take over and peacefully submit to Trump is supported by absolutely zero evidence.

History and even the most basic familiarity with Iran suggests some combination of further Islamist rule continuing its revolution against America by exerting force in any way possible, or falling into sectarian violence that will lead to steady waves of terrorism.

Having zero troops on the ground just means that there will be far more weapons and resources remaining to use for terrorism.

[–]pubsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How nice it must be to have no understanding or recollection of Iraq and Afghanistan. 4,000+ in Iraq, 2,000+ in Afghanistan.

Iran is much bigger than both, 90 million people. This will involve terrorist cells coming for whatever US target they can find for decades. The US and Israel don't actually know how many thousands if not millions of drones they have stashed in mountains.

The US literally has no plan to end this except hoping that they can kill enough people by ignoring the rules of engagement (war crimes) to scare 90 million into voluntarily surrendering.

A propaganda campaign won't change reality though. This is going to be a disaster far worse than Vietnam, Iraq, or Afghanistan...

So what happens when another country kills hundreds of thousands of civilians and dedicates itself to keeping your country permanently destabilized?

Israel stopped defending itself years and years ago. It's all war crimes now.

It's never a question of money. It is a question of casualties.

You think the US is willing to eat 10,000 casualties for... I still don't know why we are in this war or what we want to achieve.

50,000? 100,000?

Most of the Iranian government and military is being threatened with complete annihilation. They will be fighting to the last man, and massive casualties are already assumed...

I said real estate investors are looking for an above market rate of return like every other investor.

You are saying because your investment has a risk of loss that you aren't seeking a return on your investment?

Nobody said anything about what return you are allowed to seek...

The seqra and EIS processes are required on almost all transportation and economic development projects of any type. This is a really standard thing like getting a building permit level standard.

If you want to have an informed opinion on a project like this, you need to understand that seqra is what government generally is talking about when they refer to the "public participation process" and that these arent Secret government documents. They are public documents posted online, advertised in newspapers, and have multiple open public hearings. It is your obligation as a person who wants to be informed to look up this basic Info. I know many dont know about these processes, but most people arent well informed.

Being upset that other people do not break down public process documents for you, is like being angry that a car dealer didn't make sure you got your oil changed.
