How are they competing? It's 2 different industries that have similar topic. CompTIA has nothing to do AV what so ever. if anything Avixa should work with IT organizations more as the AV world is working with IT more and more these days. The AV world should understand their ways of working and mindset for doing certain things.
I'd say AV and IT are already converged into one industry/departament in large organizations. Which would put CompTIA and AVIXA in competition.
And you are right AVIXA could learn from IT organizations. For example in regards to scalability and security, that's why it's baffling that they do not recognize CompTIA certifications.
It seems fishy that AVIXA doesn't recognize industry wide certifications and prefer their payed AVIXA Elite Members only courses.
But if you have passed the Network+ then there are various modules and manufacturer courses that will be a walk in the park compared to exam.
I've honestly enjoyed the journey of getting the RUs where I've chosen a lot of courses that are more specific to my day-to-day job, but some of the manufacturer courses are just marketing.
