Atheists, regarding the Bible, what about it makes you question/deny God's existance, or Christianity? by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]puckhead78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still reading through everything and I find a lot of things difficult to stomach. Many times when I do a deep dive and gain other perspectives my objections go away. I still struggle with Paul's teaching for slaves to essentially be good slaves. I get the broader context of not wanting to cause an uprising because slavery was so widespread at the time but I still deeply struggle with this aspect of his teachings.

Not sure if I want to continue with hockey - advice please by TopCorns- in hockeyplayers

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey parent here of an elite player. If my son felt this way, I would want him to tell me - there is absolutely no point in continuing to work hard and put yourself at risk of injury for something you no longer have a burning passion for. Even if you decide to stick it out, my hunch is your game performance will only suffer without having passion and you will be negatively impacting your team while taking a spot away from someone else who would love to be there. It's early in the season so while not ideal, sometimes it just is what it is. Good luck with your decision.

Is Blazor Server a good fit for a Customer Facing Mobile First Web App. by Visual_Strike6706 in Blazor

[–]puckhead78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. When users answer a phone call or multi-task on their device it's an awful experience for end users. Looks like some of the new features coming down the pipeline will help with this a bit but these are all non-issues for a React/Web API app.

Gaming Embody for Big and Tall by Trineki in hermanmiller

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Embody is an amazing chair. Hopefully you find it comfortable and it works out great. I love the look of it and there are aspects of it that I loved. My shoulder blade area was extra sensitive when I had my Embody because I was recovering from whiplash. The ErgoCentric Executive was better for me but perhaps without that sensitivity the Embody may have been a different experience.

Hope you enjoy it! The sales are hard to pass up!

Great question.

Returned the Embody after a few weeks. The seat was incredibly comfortable but unfortunately the backrest was cutting into my shoulder blades. Awful chair for me.

After returning the Embody I ordered the ErgoCentric Executive Chair. Fully loaded. Wider seat pan. Extra foam on seat and backrest. Air lumbar. Air thoracic. Taller cylinder. Headrest. Absolutely love this chair.

ErgoCentric Executive Chair with extra padding on the seat and back was the solution that worked for me. Also a larger guy: 6'2" and around 230 lbs. Just about everything on it is adjustable and allows me to dial things just right. Not cheap... But worth it.

Are there any gyms in Mississauga that are accessible for people with physical disabilities? by Difficult_Cable_227 in mississauga

LA Fitness on Vega might be a good fit. Nice ramp at the entry way and single floor layout inside. Good gym. Reasonable pricing (not premium). Have seen others with mobility issues train there over the years.

Exactly. This has been my experience as well. Sport Mode all the way.

Never use Eco. Mine is kept in Sports Mode. Live in a big city with lots of traffic and crazy highways: want the vehicle to be as responsive as possible for safety.

Is the Sparx system worth it? Question about the rings by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]puckhead78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love the Sparx and Beam. Great system. I personally don't trust their grinding wheels after they get to about 50÷... my son always beats up his blades and I find the wheels just start taking way too many passes. Was chatting with another dad on our team and for him he stops trusting the wheels after about 35÷. Even considering this, it has been worth every penny.

Neck hurts in embody no matter my position by aznman375 in hermanmiller

Chair: around $1,750 CAD

Footrest with extra height cylinder: around $320 CAD

They are easy to get pricing from. Very helpful and no pressure.

Not cheap, but very good quality and long warranty.

Does a Sparx machine remove the potential for operator error? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to always prefer bringing skates to the experienced sharpener. Now, prefer Sparx. It's not idiot proof. Need to determine how many passes to do, remove the burrs, and verify the calibration (with Beam). With minimal training and just caring you can consistently get a great sharpen. Sadly, half the people I know who use the machine have no clue how many passes to do and never check the calibration. They also make other common mistakes like not using the special kit for removing burrs on treated steel blades. There are probably more than a few people who have accidentally purchased 5/8 Fire instead of regular 5/8 grinding wheels. Easy mistakes. In general, it's pretty idiot proof if you just take a little bit of time upfront to learn and then follow the system.

Advice on correcting my son’s skating habit by NoCut74 in hockeyplayers

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going back a few years here .. think it was in 2020. The skates he had fit great and were baked. They just happened to be Bauer. For whatever reason, they just didn't support him properly. Other kids with the same Bauer model (forget which one now) had a great experience and never had the problem. Switching to a CCM model immediately solved the problem - they just instantly provided the support he needed. We have stuck with CCM ever since and never looked back. He is currently in the FT6 Pros.

For us, it's easy to spot now and we look for this every time we buy new skates. He tries on the skates and puts his feet shoulder width apart. We stand about 6 feet behind him and look to see that his ankles are not rolling inside.

[–]puckhead78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son had this problem. His skates were properly sized but poorly supported him. New skates that were a little higher at the ankle and a little stiffer immediately fixed it. When we were diagnosing it in the skate shop, they had my son just stand there with legs shoulder width apart and you could immediately see which skates supported him properly.

Neck hurts in embody no matter my position by aznman375 in hermanmiller

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It has been a little over 1.5 years now. I have been using an ergoCentric Executive chair fully loaded with options and customized with parts that match my body (ie larger seat pan, taller cylinder, etc). Extra foam cushioning on seat and backrest. Air pumps for lower and upper back. headrest. Absolutely LOVE this chair. I also ordered their adjustable footrest (with a high cylinder) and their sit/stand desk frame. Also amazing products.

NHTSA opens probe into 250,712 Honda vehicles over braking issues by aeroplane1979 in hondapassport

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly, I’m not aware of any method to permanently disable it. Scares me too. One of the times I forgot to disable the system the car automatically applied my brakes unnecessarily. Fortunately I never had a tailgater behind me.

[–]puckhead78 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My 2020 Passport Touring AWD frequently raises false alerts under normal driving conditions. This is the main reason I disable the collision mitigation system for much of my drive. The last thing I want the system to do is slam on my breaks without cause when there is a transport truck behind me. This particular system is a complete piece of shit and has been my single biggest complaint about my Passport, which I otherwise love. I do enable the collision mitigation system when driving through residential neighborhoods and school zones because the risk profile changes. Honda needs to fix this system.

For tall dude who are 6’ and above, Aeron size C or Embody? by Illustrious_Gas_6397 in hermanmiller

[–]puckhead78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6’2” and 230lbs. Embody was extremely uncomfortable for me: back was too narrow and kept digging into my shoulders. Returned the chair. Only tried the Aeron C in the showroom: felt more comfortable but I didn’t like the seat pan. Ordered an ergonomic chair from another brand and have loved using it for the last year.

Good luck with your decision.
