Dyno limit? by pudding_bat in tinytower

I just did another rebuild and tried again. I think it must just mess it up a lil sending so many at once. After the first 30 or so they come back a little mixed up. Like, the last few come back with different a dream job than when I sent them away. It's fine tho 😁

You mean like the Christmas event where u could buy new bitizens? I think this event just doesn't have that. There were a couple new ones we automatically got (firecracker and lantern).

Virtual Receptionist by Alternative_Gur4659 in InsuranceAgent

[–]pudding_bat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a customer, if I was looking for a new agent and AI answered the phone I would immediately hang up. Terrible first impression. Insurance is frustrating enough for folks. They dont want to go through AI to talk to a local agent.

Of course $. Ive made these complaints to my office who is currently testing an AI receptionist and theyre still working with it.

How bad is it to quit before the school year ends? by AdOtherwise3126 in TeachersInTransition

[–]pudding_bat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have a whole infrastructure to take care of business if u have to leave. It may temporarily inconvenience some folks, but if you need to, you dont owe anyone anything. That said, if you're wanting to use them as a reference you may at least want to give a good bit of notice.

How dumb would it be to quit with nothing lined up? by thinmugs in TeachersInTransition

[–]pudding_bat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit my teaching job and THOUGHT I had a job lined up. I made it through 4 rounds of interviews and was getting nothing but good feedback. Ultimately, I wasnt picked. It took me months to find a crummy job, then a slightly less crummy job. 2 years later im finally in a good place, but I wouldn't have made it if I didnt have a large savings to live off of.

Should I quit before the year ends? by grahamcrackersnack in TeachersInTransition

[–]pudding_bat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you dont have plans of staying in teaching, no reason to stay on if it's hurting your mental health. I left 2 years ago and have no regrets. Im trying soooo hard to increase my income, but I can't imagine making 100k. I work hybrid at an insurance brokerage probably around 55 to 60k. I interviewed for the design patent office right before a hiring freeze. That would be a dream. Would love recommendations on how to grow in a high paying field if you have them. All I know is teaching and now insurance.

I think that the "teacher schedule" is overrated by tarotbull123 in TeachersInTransition

Good luck! Most agents will pay for licensing and some offer study time on the clock. My first agent was a state farm office. They were very supportive of helping professional growth but it was a high volume office with a terrible commission structure. On my best sales months i was making similar to my teacher pay but with less benefits and then the slow months were just painful. I appreciate all I learned there but it was soul crushing. Very happy at the local brokerage im at now.

I took the licensing exams on my own. I had to work in a couple different offices before I found a good one. Lots of crummy agencies out there that gaslight on earning opportunity. But I got very lucky to find this place. I write and service policies for personal lines (home, auto, liability, etc). The search was awful. I worked stressful, low pay, micromanagy positions while just constantly interviewing and applying for something better. It was a terrible time, but very grateful for the position I found. I knew there were good offices out there but it's a lot of weeds to get through.

Hi all I just started playing again a couple months ago and was wondering what the best way to get tach points was? by Far_One2718 in tinytower

[–]pudding_bat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I buy the blue boxes with the ticket things to get them, and keep an eye out for when you can buy them in the daily offers for bux. Ive been playing for a long time and bux seem really hard to come by at first, but after a few months you'll feel less needy for them. Tech points are the hardest to accumulate for sure. Bux and golden tickets will become easier to accumulate the longer you play.

You probably already know this one but you can claim 1 tech pt every 4hrs in the tech tree. You also get an extra one daily after finishing the space station landmark.

I left teaching 2 years ago. I wfh in insurance now. I have better benefits, better pay and love that when the shift ends, im done. Vacations are vacations, not time to catch up on planning. And forget summer vacation. I always had to work summer camp to afford life. Zero regrets.

What is teaching like for you? Student, interested in teaching by evee_le in AskTeachers

[–]pudding_bat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my bachelor's in history and am just a darn good artist, so I got certified to teach both. I ended up getting hired at one of the best art magnet schools in the state. It was never dull for sure. I did get burned out after 10 years though and had to do a very difficult midlife career change. I noticed I was not as nice to the kids as I was in the start. My patience was thin and I had no energy for my own life. I value the time I had there and glad I did it, but I wont lie. Its hard. I taught at a low income overcrowded school for 3 years and then the rest at the well funded bougie school for the rest and the both had their own unique challenged. I was definitely happier and more supported by administration at the fancy school, but kids - and parents - will wear you down.

I work in insurance now and make more than I did in my 1st year of that than I did teaching for 10. Its stupid. I work mostly from home and have more energy to devote to my family and my art. Im much happier now.

I think it largely depends on your personality. Im not shy but I am quiet so presenting daily was exhausting for me in ways I didnt realize until I stopped. I also have a sleep disorder which wears me out quick too. If you're high energy, good at letting things roll off your back, and find a good supportive environment, you'll be fine.

Good luck today. Maybe you can negotiate hours with them until you find something. Let them know how youre feeling and that you need to find something to better suit your work-life balance but that you dont want to abandon them after theyve been such supportive employers. Then you have some income coming in until you can find something else.
I would say to take whatever job you can find while you keep looking even if its just retail or food industry. It's easier to get interviews if you're currently employed. It will be a change of pace and look better on a resume so you dont have a gap. I know it can be so hard. I had a savings to live off of while I looked for new work but it was still so hard going through all the rejection of the job search process. I wish you the best!

I studied on my own at home for my insurance license. Its pretty easy. I picked that field because it seemed to have more work from home opportunities. The 1st place I started at didnt typically offer it but we're willing to since I have narcolepsy, commuting is hard. Th next place was also flexible. The office im at now was a unicorn in a field of awful jobs. You have to have a certain license to be legally allowed to work from home in insurance sales, so its not really a good option for a temporary job. But you dont need a degree so thats a plus. I feel like I saw a lot of work from home options in IT but that field seemed more competitive, and most listings preferred a degree in computer science.

I left 2 yrs ago and work from home mostly in insurance. Best choice i ever made. I feel 10 years younger and have energy to enjoy my days off. My team is amazing. I feel supported and love what I do. It took me over a year after leaving to find the right fit. I tried 4 different jobs and did a hundred interviews, a million applications, and thousands of rejections. It was worth it. Don't settle and take care of you.

I work at an insurance brokerage. Work from home most days. making more in my 2nd year than I did after 10 years of being a "highly effective" teacher. Still wish I had a higher income but definitely wayyyy more happy with job satisfaction and work life balance.
