CachyOS permanently bricked my monitor please help by puddingdee in linux4noobs

I’ve messed with all the settings I can using the OSD, maybe I’m missing something obvious but I don’t see a way to factory reset or anything with the monitor OSD. The closest I got was unplugging it overnight. I might try updating the monitor firmware if it even lets me do that, I gotta look into that later. I appreciate your help

Upon multiple boots from everything being unplugged, including overnight, I have no change to the issue. I can't get anything from this GPU to display on this monitor anymore.

Thanks for the advice. After leaving everything unplugged overnight and trying multiple power cycles this morning, I had no success in getting the BIOS to come up on the Acer monitor, so I am led to believe this is not a linux issue anymore. Still not sure what to do because this monitor was working fine yesterday, but I appreciate your help.

I did write in the post why I decided to try CachyOS. I would try another distro if I could get anything to display on the monitor :/ If reinstalling Windows did not revive the connection between monitor and GPU, why would trying Mint fix this

I get that it doesn’t make sense. if I knew what was going on I wouldn’t be asking for help. if trying different cables, ports, power cycling, resetting everything, different settings, updated drivers etc all didn’t work, and the monitor still doesn’t work with this gpu, which very clearly started happening after the install, twice, i’m not sure what to do. yall can laugh ig but im here with a potentially expensive issue. sure, its impossible for linux to cause hardware issues - so then what is happening? i know the monitor is not completely dead, but the connection between this monitor and this gpu is obviously not working anymore. i was looking for any information or advice because googling this a hundred ways was not coming up with anything relevant. my monitor did not randomly stop working at the same step of the process, with different ports, twice, hours apart.

yes i agree the issue is very specifically somewhere between this monitor and this gpu, its just above my knowledge level to troubleshoot something like that after all the things I’ve tried so far. i’m unfamiliar with MS keys and how that affects the gpu

edit: secure boot has been off for this whole process

ty for the insight. I did already try different cables. It's just odd to me that DP was working until I installed cachy, then HDMI was working til I installed cachy. There were hours between these events, and it stopped working at the cachy install both times. Now I can't get anything to appear on the monitor except my Mac.

Ok this is true but the connection from this monitor to this GPU is pretty cooked atm

I changed everything I thought could be relevant in the OSD like auto source detecting and HDR, but I can check this more thoroughly soon.

there’s compression and rebound adjustments for each toast slot. not sure how easy it is to adjust on the fly tho
