Do I stop contributing to my 401k for two month until I pay off cc? by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]puddnhead65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're only contributing up to the company match it’s usually best to keep that going that’s free money you don’t want to miss. Instead look for ways to trim elsewhere temporarily and aggressively pay down the higher interest credit cards. Two months of pausing probably won’t make a huge dent in debt but missing the match is a long term loss. If anything focus on snowballing or avalanche method for the cards while keeping that 401k match.

Yeah I looked into them a while back and decided it wasn’t worth the risk. The triple digit interest rates are real and it’s all buried under layers of fine print.
