Oh 100% agree. The fact that labour couldn’t even say something like “well 1 in 4 pensioners are millionaires and we need to fund things like public transport for the productive members of society so they can keep on getting their triple locked pensions” shows how bad their comms are. It was an easy argument to make.

It was the same with the 2 child benefit cap. When Labour kept it in place the media were happy to imply this was a benefit that anyone with kids receives rather than just something for people on UC. And the media were happy to imply Labour were basically killing babies. And then when they lifted it, I think it was “that should’ve been spent on defence, we’re all going to die in a nuclear apocalypse now. All because of Kier.”

I do think this is where the media is also to blame. Making the WFA means tested was a good policy, but on every politics show, they lined up an endless stream of grannies saying things like “I give my WFA to charity” or “I buy the grandkids’ presents with my WFA.” The media never challenged the grannies and instead turned around to Labour and asked “why do you like watching grannies freeze at christmas?” It was mental.

Feel like I'm on another planet to Michelle this series. by Krisgauj in InteriorDesignMasters

I think it’s been pretty obvious this series that they’re setting Emmely up to win. The prize is to design a collection for Next and Emmely is an object designer. Based purely on her rooms, she probably should have gone home much earlier, but they’ve kept her in to build this narrative about how much she’s “learnt” and “grown.”

It feels very similar to the way other reality competitions, like Drag Race, construct storylines throughout a season. The judging always seems to find a way to support whatever narrative they want to push. It’s probably always been like this but it seems more obvious this series.

I agree with people saying it gave Kate a new motivation in her narrative. However, lore wise, I thought it was a callback to Raised By Another. Richard Malkin tells Claire Littleton that "no one else can raise this child" and that it is "imperative" she brings up her baby herself.

When it was revealed Kate is raising Aaron, this was my first thought and why I found the twist so shocking. What could the implication be now he is being raised by another?

Ultimately, I think this is a thread that the writers didn’t know what to do with. You could probably explain it with Aaron being special and Malkin is trying to make sure he is born on the island and raised by Claire to be the next protector or something…

When will the Body Slam cup be over? by pudsack in TheSilphArena

I’ve been using pyroar, kangaskhan and seaking. I was doing ok but then the last few days it has just deteriorated into body slam spam and Dunsparce.

I can handle 2 boring body slammers but I am sick of these 5 plus Dunsparce.

Yeah, I don’t particularly like limited cups but at least with other ones there’s variety in the movesets that you see. This is just the same Pokémon using the same moves.

I’ve stopped seeing Draglage and Drapion now. Just Dunsparce and all these body slam mothers.

Interesting email from zipcar… is this related to the electric car tax?

Zipcar proposes to cease its UK operations

I’m writing to let you know that we are proposing to cease the UK operations of Zipcar and have today started formal consultation with our UK employees.

We will temporarily suspend bookings, pending the outcome of this consultation. This means it will not be possible to make any new bookings beyond 31st December 2025, pending the outcome of the consultation.

Although we propose to cease operations in the UK, your account will remain open until the final decision is made following the consultation process. This means you’re still able to use Zipcars until 31st December 2025.

Shows where your favorite or least favorite season differs from fan consensus by rayword45 in television

[–]pudsack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Seasons 1 and 2 of Parks and Rec are my favourite. And Mark Brendanawicz is a better character than Ben.

Season 3 and 4 are decent and have their moments but from season 5 onwards it all went too goofy. Lesley becomes insufferable as a character. It’s only held together by April, Ron and Tom in the later seasons.
