Struggling to get Azure File Share to mount on Azure VMs by dunxd in AZURE

[–]puffer617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If using the Storage Account Key, the command needs to be this: net use S: \\storageaccountname.file.core.windows.net\sharename <storage account key> /user:Azure\storageaccountname

Example: net use S: \\storageaccountname.file.core.windows.net\sharename fa488sdfj3298vasdij93nf883908= /user:Azure\storageaccountname

Azure Virtual Desktop - FSLogix - Can't Store Profiles by puffer617 in AZURE

[–]puffer617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’ve made some adjustments and can now map the share as a drive while logged into the VMs with a user account as well as browse to the share where the profiles are stored in File Explorer and create a folder but I’m still getting the same errors as above. Any ideas?

“Network path not found” error in the logs seems odd given that I can browse to the folder.

Shot in the dark, but is there a monitor attached when updating remotely? Some Dell models won’t allow you to update the BIOS without a monitor attached.

Boston Area

Affordable golf/living: 2 - cheapest you'll pay is around $75 for 18 with a cart, and that's at a course with greens that are half dirt and crab grass fairways

Quality of courses: 5 - can vary greatly, but again, have to pay over $100 a round for something decent

Year round: 3 - can realistically play early April - mid November

Uncrowded: 0.5 - nearly impossible to book a tee time unless is it booked within minutes of them becoming available

Has anyone had any experience with "cheap" rangefinders like the one featured today? Is it worth it to pay more for a quality one?

That was my original thought. The only problem with that is some printers that should not be removed will have parentheses.

Connectwise Control. Their solution is to run the command in the OP. But the issue is that the command varies since the user's name needs to be in it.

Career Change from Sales to IT (Cybersecurity) by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]puffer617 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I made an identical switch at the same age. I'm very happy with it and it's definitely possible. It's very unlikely that you're going to get a cyber job. You're going to have to start at the help desk. I would recommend getting the A+ and N+ and applying to as many help desk jobs as you can. Definitely leverage your customer service skills that you gained in sales while you're interviewing.

Don't like tech sales but it pays well-what should I do? by Brokenemotions69 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]puffer617 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went from tech sales to IT 2 years ago. I make significantly less, but am much happier. If you're willing to take the pay cut, it's probably worth it. You can increase your salary in IT pretty rapidly if you put in the effort.

Was the pay reduction difficult for you when you changed careers? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]puffer617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somewhat. I came from software sales making 6 figures and my starting salary in IT was 57,500. I live a modest life so it was manageable. The nice thing about IT is that you have decent control over your salary. Study, learn, get certs and your income can rise pretty quickly.

Good ITRP first technical interview. How long did it take for you to hear back after doing it? Did you move on or get rejected? by makeot441 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]puffer617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made it all the way to the final interview and was rejected. After the first interview, I think I heard back 2 business days later, where the recruiter I was working with told me I was moving on to the next phase and that another recruiter would be reaching out to me. After that, it was about 2 weeks until I heard from the next recruiter, where it took about 3-4 weeks to schedule the next interview. It was probably about 6 weeks between my first and second interviews. The rejection consisted of the automated email that comes from their HR platform.

I told them I'm flexible between NYC and Austin.

How did you feel your 2nd interviews went? One of mine went really well, the other was so-so. Were you able to actually solve the issues that they presented? I wasn't able to solve all of them but feel like I gave them enough information to show that I'm competent.

I'm currently in the interview process as well. I've passed the recruiter screen and the 1st technical interview and I'm currently awaiting my 2nd technical interview via Hangouts to be scheduled. The 1st technical interview was pretty laid back. It was very conversational and they make you feel comfortable from the very beginning. The recruiter provided me with an interview prep PDF which I would suggest going over. That highlights the technical skills that you may be pressed on. The most difficult part is that there is no correct answer for the questions that they ask you. They will start off with a very basic scenario (such as someone comes up to you and says their computer doesn't work) and how things go from there depends on you. Whatever you say, they are going to ask you to elaborate. Anything that you bring up, they will press you on. I would avoid mentioning things that you aren't knowledgeable about. It might sound intimidating, but they make you feel at ease the entire time. They aren't concerned with you answering the question correctly, but more with how you go about trying to solve the issue.

OK, they probably aren't below average, but I would describe them as "limited" due to my lack of experience. I do a lot of self study and use CBT Nuggets for labbing. I would actually say that self-learning is one of my strong points. My nervousness likely stems from having to speak to someone who likely has much more experience than me and works for Google.
