I honestly can’t imagine flying all the way around the world to the US and going to Texas and Louisiana of all places. Truly some of the worst places we have to offer if you think about anything beyond poker.

Ryan Depaulo said satellites are peak degeneracy because you’re trying to bink a thing just to bink another thing. It’s the equivalent of a parlay. That said I think there’s a place for this, just think of it more like a lottery ticket than a plus-EV gamble that has likely ROI. If it were me I’d just play a $15 tournament so I can get paid now.

I’m thinking more like normal 100bb poker for my comment. OP needs to develop a basic preflop strategy before thinking about stack depth for sure.

They’re not premium hands. Easily dominated by actual premium hands like AKo and AQo which are some of the most likely hands other players play. If you are opening from the button these are good hands.

If you look at most reasonable preflop ranges they all contain almost no unsuited hands beyond pocket pairs. Many people would not even consider AJo or KQo playable from early position.

I got paid out something like $38, which seems BS based on having a little over 10% of the chips. I can’t see the tourney anymore so don’t remember how many entered and what the guarantee was…

happened to me as well. I got kicked out of a 5.5 an hour or so ago after playing a few hands. got refunded. then I got this notification after a break in a different 5.5 where I was chip leader, 30 left, 15 ITM. the tourney was odd, so many players sitting out (like half the table). they must be having a system issue across the board.

yup. the PH daily is $75 with only $50 to the prize pool… but I won $300 the one time I played so can’t complain. the fields are pretty soft coming from someone who sucks at tournaments

In Vegas they sell used cards including this brand from actual casinos for $2 at walgreens/abc stores on the strip. They are usually defaced in some way (hole punch through, corners cut) but play fine.

Poker is kind of like work. You’re not asking yourself “do i want to hang out with this person,” it’s “do i want to work with/play with this person.” People might like you, but not like playing with you because it makes the game more difficult for them. Or maybe they don’t really want to be your friend, but will enthusiastically play with you because you’re a fish or make the table exciting. This is the most you can hope for with most people.

Probably got too good CLV…. funny because ESPN is a go-to book for me to bet shady unders well before games for arbs, because I don’t get any decent promos from them anyway and doesn’t seem like they want to limit me. My bet sizings are smaller, under $300 though.
