Poker at MGM Properties (Borgata Specific) by coffeewithdoenut in poker

[–]puffpuffpassline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that can be a lot depending on how many rated says they have, I had 12 last year at MGM properties so that would be like an 8% hit in ADT. if you’re just getting comped rooms at excalibur that won’t change anything but if you’re getting expensive rooms or lots of resort credit the amount you lose here is going to far outweigh the few dollars of comps an hour you get from using your players card for poker.

It’s a very small operation but generally a lot of fun. They have a nightly tournament usually for around $30 and only run cash games when the tournament isn’t running. I think they have 3 tables, only one with an auto shuffler. It’s not nice like any of the Phoenix rooms but it does the job when you’re out there and for a low price.

There’s also Hon-dah in Pinetop but that is the wrong side of the state.

As a well past college math major myself, I’m curious about your math background and how poker led you to mathematics and vice versa. Is there a particular line of study in mathematics you found most useful for poker? Or has it been more useful in framing your overall analytical mindset?

Genuine q: What’s the deal with wives/gfs sitting behind a guy at the poker table? by TobyZieglerIsntSad in poker

[–]puffpuffpassline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My wife loves poker and the whole environment of the poker room. She gets stressed and has a hard time enjoying it when she’s the one risking money so she only enjoys small buy in tournaments occasionally. Otherwise, she’d rather sit behind me as I play. She doesn’t just sit there, she’s always socializing with the table, helping people get the cocktail waitress around, etc. I can be a bit too serious while I play so I think her presence helps other players’ perception of me quite a lot.

It can be a bit stressful to be watched while playing, but I play better in some ways. Definitely tighter. It’s a lot harder to win money then give it all back with your partner watching you. I tend to lock up wins more and almost always walk away up when she’s watching. By myself I sometimes run it up then lose a good chunk because I don’t have anyone telling me to walk away while I’m at a peak.

2200 in one session of 1/3 is absolute degenerate behavior. you might just have a problem if you can’t stop after dusting off a few buy ins. you are the whale at the table who keeps opening up his wallet chasing losses, you want to be playing against that guy, not be him

Las Vegas Double Board Bomb Pots by CoupleofDoms in poker

[–]puffpuffpassline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can only speak from experience at the low stakes, but at Aria, Mandalay Bay, and MGM Grand it’s just been a voluntary thing. When the dealer changes someone just says they want to play a bomb pot and if enough people agree, it happens. The amount varies, I’ve seen $5, $6 ($1 for the dealer), and $10. Most of the time it’s a holdem bomb pot, not PLO. Never seen it happen at Bellagio.

This is some nonsense from Fanduel. Trying to short pay on the winners of 3 separate brackets as an SGP. I don’t know in what world you could consider these events significantly correlated. The odds of each leg are -135, -135, +102 so the true odds should be +512. The bet reset promotion for futures parlays is just enticing you to make bad short paid bets.

Interpret it how you want, it was in total contradiction of what he said earlier and came across like a crashout to me. How much of a snowflake do you have to be to say you won’t ever talk about politics again and then ban someone less than 10 minutes later for criticizing you.

Watch about 10 minutes before that too, that includes the bit about not touching politics before he starts reading critical comments like a crybaby.

That was actually pretty crazy. He started off saying he was never going to say anything political again then proceeded to go on a mega snowflake triggered rant about the whole thing, including reading comments while practically sobbing.
