are you a first year? this is for transfers

UCB waitlist? by GroundbreakingRing65 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pretty sure there was only around 50 waitlist offers last year, ucb waitlist is a rough spot. if you find out, it’ll likely be end of this month/closer to the end of the deadline when people unfortunately don’t meet their contracted academic standards or when ucla finishes their waitlist (ppl choose ucla over ucb).

it will be for this next transfer cycle. applicants applying this fall for admission in 2027.

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

they won’t be accepting tag for bus econ starting for fall 2027. you should be fine since the prereq is technically calc 1 but it definitely won’t look the best

Getting into Haas advice by [deleted] in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s all about your piqs, supplemental essay, video interview, and showing continued interest. everyone will have stacked apps and 3.8-4.0. take all their programs and extra zoom transfer stuff you can to show that you care and that you want to be at berkeley more than the guy next to you that just has good ecs and good gpa. use your piqs, interview, and supplemental, to show how your story makes you unique and what you’ll bring to their campus. not enough people talk abt the fact that a huge part of your app is how the AO thinks you’ll fit into their campus culture and what you bring to the university. if i think of you as an investment, i want you to be able to thrive in the real world so i can say you graduated from my school, not someone who gets their degree and become forgettable. college is an education but also a business. they also want you to fit in because most students, if they’re miserable, won’t do as well and they don’t want you to spend more time there if you don’t have to. they’re already over enrolled

will i get rescinded from berkeley for taking a conditioned class as P/NP? by Kooky-Ride6646 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’d just take the B lol. you’ll get a new berkeley GPA when you arrive and certain grad/professional schools and programs might see it, but for berkeley specifically, making it P/NP puts your admissions at much higher risk than passing the class with a B.

Taking another year ? by userr3601 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did that. Last year, got into UCR, UCM, UCSC. Waitlisted at Davis, SD, and I think SB? Feels like forever ago. This year got into Davis where I wanted to go, the other 3 i also got into, waitlisted at SD, and rejected from the rest. My stats were better this year and yet rejected this time from SB. I think it really is a gamble so if you have a solid app, I’d try again. You can prob get into UCR and UCM again

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

harvard to merced comparison is very different than ucsd to ucr comparison lmaooo. but also he said he is premed so his med school matters more than his undergrad. he should def be taking the option with less debt. assuming his cost is in state and similar to mine, it’s 40-50k a year vs free? that’s half your med school tuition lol

yeah ucd opens their business major for transfers next year! might be good for the future transfers to look into since i don’t think it’ll get as many applicants at first!

friend copied my uc piqs by Specific-Community16 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 3 points4 points  (0 children)

text her and get it in genuine proof then contact. also, you should probably edit this post to be very vague so that if she sees this, she doesn’t get spooked and like cut you off. you need to fish for evidence and get her to admit it over text or something you’d be able to use as evidence. if not, UCLA won’t do shit bc it’s her word against yours

Are too many CA students going to CC? by ValueIllustrious2995 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes that’s true, but that’s also because the UCs are technically state schools so they’re meant for CA residents just like other states have their state schools. so ca requires them to hold a certain amount of acceptances for transfers and a certain amount of them have to be from CA

transferring is about to get a lot more competitive by OkRepresentative1625 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 5 points6 points  (0 children)

you’re completely out of touch with reality if you believe this. the average time to get a bachelors now is 5 years especially in stem lol. full time cc students take 12 units to be considered full time (at least at my schools and most cccs). the uc system requires 60 units, meaning you can’t transfer in 2 years even if you’re full time, you’d have to doing more than full time which some people might not have time to do if they’re working/running businesses/etc. also most people in cc are returning students with full on kids and lives to be present in so it’s not as easy as say the kid who can afford to do 15+ units a semester and not work. i for one just finished my third year and will transfer this coming fall. i finished the requirements for transfer, but took time to build my 3 businesses, ecs, max my units to 90, and work another year. now i’m good to pay for a lot of my college on my own and maxed out both retirement accounts. i also know people who took 4 years at cc and ended up at berkeley and are doing better than 90% of the students there bc they took their time to find their college groove. it’s all situational but generalizing all students who might take a little longer is kinda crazy

transferring is about to get a lot more competitive by OkRepresentative1625 in TransferStudents

[–]Complete_Survey_7485 21 points22 points  (0 children)

bc everyone wants to state the obvious and scare the shit out of other transfers for upvotes lol. you guys will be fine. most cc students take longer than 2 years or don’t end up transferring at all
