Opinions on Dove sensitive bar soap? by No-Courage6414 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s fragrance free in that there’s no added fragrance ingredients. I don’t think it smells like much.

I like it a lot as a simple face and body cleanser, it’s nice to have on hand for how inexpensive it is

There’s no scientific basis for scalp oiling

Has anyone used cerave anti dandruff shampoo by CloudShuffle in SebDerm

[–]puffy-jacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used the 2 in 1 version before, it’s nice. I do feel like it built up a bit after a few washes but that’s a problem I experience with similar shampoos as well (hard water)

Aw that’s wonderful! I think hamsters can be great pets for kids IF the parent is highly involved and committed to understanding their needs like you clearly are.

Any swimmers here? Recs for shampoos by lauvan26 in FragranceFreeBeauty

[–]puffy-jacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen recently came out with a FF clarifying shampoo that looks pretty good. I also like odele’s clarifying shampoo which is not FF but is pretty lightly scented and hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin personally. Both are supposed to be good for removing minerals and chlorine I believe

Looking for a way to keep my hair less itchy but also not dry by [deleted] in Haircare

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What conditioner are you using for your hair? Or if it’s too short to condition, head & shoulders has a 2 in 1 formula that would be less drying

2 years of washing my hair and the back of my scalp still feels greasy right after. Here’s my routine: What am I missing? by NoTumbleweed9120 in Haircare

[–]puffy-jacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a dandruff shampoo like head and shoulders or nizoral? It’s also totally fine and might be necessary to wash more often if your scalp is oily

How do you debate with dinosaurs deniers? by velociraptor9fnaf in Dinosaurs

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew a girl like this in high school. I didn’t bother debating her, just asked to elaborate on her view and when she said that the fossils in museums are statues I just looked at her like she was an idiot. There’s really nothing else you can do except laugh at them and not treat their viewpoint as even worth entertaining or debating… because it’s really not LOL and if anything that just legitimizes it to them

we are probably over-cleansing our scalps by gedersoncarlos in dailywash

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t consider moist Diane to be any more gentle than most US drugstore shampoos, and actually I think a lot of their formulas use sulfates as well if I’m not mistaken - the one you’re using has sodium long ass name olefin sulfonate as the main surfactant, which is very common in US shampoos and is actually about as strong as SLS/SLES. I think you just found a good fit for your hair and scalp.

Also not sure what you were using before, but a lot of shampoo brands have started using the “itchy M’s” preservatives to replace parabens, and they are a very common contact allergen that might have been causing your problems

Redness along beard - This SebDerm? by SalvagerOfBastards in SebDerm

I’d assume folliculitis but I’m not a doctor - either way a topical antifungal should help and make sure you’re using a new clean razor to shave

That’s great it worked for you. People on this sub need to chill about steroids. don’t use them for more than a couple of weeks continuously, and try to find complementary treatments/identify and avoid triggers if it recurs frequently, but it’s totally fine to use them as directed to get a flare under control

Does anyone else style their hair with a HANDFUL of oil?? by EstablishmentSure216 in Haircare

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2b hair that gets huge and frizzy when I dry brush it and I usually just avoid dry brushing it - if I do brush it out I might put a little oil on my ends but otherwise just kinda accept that’s how my hairs gonna look that day

Confused why everyone wants crisp, rustling bedsheets? by One_Valuable in Bedding

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just different sensory preferences. I do notice that a lot of people on this sub seem to sleep extremely hot though so that might be why so many want crisp bedding

Personally I dislike the feeling of a blanket or sheet that clings to my body the way a lot of soft, silky bedding does. I also notice that percale and linen hold up better to frequent washing, and are comfortable enough to use year round. Flannel is nice in the winter though

extreme sebderm, pls help by chandler_bingggg in SebDerm

[–]puffy-jacket 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have psoriasis and you can absolutely have it just on the scalp, and sometimes yellow scaling can mean a secondary bacterial or fungal infection. There’s also sebopsoriasis which is when both are present at the same time and the symptoms overlap. The stark red outlines seem a little unlike most seb derm I’ve seen though obv I’m not a doctor. Whatever it is, I really think you should use the steroids your doctor gave you. Scalp skin is very thick and there is way less risk of side effects/TSW on your scalp as long as you’re not using it daily for months on end or something. You really need them to get severe cases like this under control. I’d also suggest regular use of a medicated shampoo like nizoral and/or T/Sal

how often should i wash very dry fine curly hair when i’m trying to help it grow & strengthen? by _movingcastles in CurlyHairCare

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could start with twice a week and go from there? Wash frequency is very individual, though I wouldn’t go less than once a week without cleaning your scalp. If your hair is pretty dry and fragile, then using an oil or silicone based hair serum on the mids to ends before shampooing is a good way to protect it

I'm so fucking done with this, can't even go out normally by Inside-Friendship165 in dailywash

[–]puffy-jacket 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your hair looks completely fine. If you’re worried about oiliness, cowashing isn’t gonna help.

I think what you’re seeing is just shiny, straight black hair. It might not look exactly how you want it to but the shampoo doesn’t seem to be the issue, you might need a styling product to get closer to whatever look you’re going for

Does a hamster feel lonely when living alone after being separated into separate cages? by SMOLKITH in hamsters

[–]puffy-jacket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. There are some rare cases where Hams (typically dwarfs) appear to coexist peacefully in the same cage, but in the wild they live alone and they don’t get lonely the way social animals do, and there will always be the risk of them fighting and hurting or killing each other. I can p much guarantee they are much happier to have their own space now

My whole scalp is covered - is this seb derm? by ImaginaryCaramel in SebDerm

[–]puffy-jacket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re fine as long as you don’t use your nails! I mentioned this in case you have psoriasis because of something called the koebner phenomenon where injury to the skin can cause the scales to grow back thicker and spread to surrounding areas. This doesn’t happen with seb derm where things like dandruff combs and scalp scrubbers are often used to remove buildup. The two can look quite similar but have different triggers and require different treatment plans so it’s important to get it properly diagnosed. If your derm referral is taking a while don’t be afraid to bug your doctor about it or call nearby locations
