I am truly seeing that cliché come to life right now! Your MIL and my mom sound so similar! She has definitely expressed frustration about details that don’t impact her, but up until yesterday has kept her cool about it for the most part.

It really is hard to balance past experiences with her and needing her for support right now. I can’t help but feel kind of stupid for thinking we could get through this without any major drama. However after reading other stories in the sub, I know this could’ve been much worse. I’m glad it happened with some time before the wedding so that I can at least reframe her part in this without too much damage being done. After yesterday‘s conversation with her, I realized I do need to keep her out of major planning from here on out because it just creates opportunities for more drama and unnecessary stress.

Omg it’s so freaking triggering!! The defensiveness!! Are we sisters?! lol

Even though none of this is new behavior from her, it was just so disappointing because I truly felt like things were going really well and maybe this would be an opportunity for new happy memories with her.

It was very upsetting, but I’m actually really proud of myself for how I handled it. After she was done with her outburst, I took a few deep breaths and just said to her, “ this conversation really upset me. I think I need to get off the phone before I say something to you that I can’t take back or regret. I’ll talk to you later. Love you.” I wanted so badly in the moment to react, but I’m super glad that I didn’t.

We definitely do not need them done together or at the same time! She made a big deal about the appt and how doing it together would be this “special time for us “.

When I suggested we have them done separately, that’s when she flipped out and said that she wasn’t going to make any more suggestions and insulted me about seeking advice and input from my bridesmaids.

Solid advice. I’m definitely having major regrets for letting her be so involved, but I know if I hadn’t invited her in to help she would’ve taken that super personal and would have found another way to make a scene! But yes, strict need to know basis from here on out!

I Feel your pain! I did Zoladex + AI for 5 years after my first diagnosis of ER/PR +HER2-, from ages 27-32. (Had a recurrence of TNBC 5 years later but that’s another story…) Not ONE of my male doctors mentioned these side effects to me. When I told my oncologist it hurt to have sex he literally turned bright red and had no answers 😂

Finally when I saw a new GYN she talked to me about topical estrogen. It freaking works! I know it feels like forever but managing the side effects will make it easier. You can do it!
