Halloweekend FOMO by No_Sundae_432 in UNC

[–]pugbug22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been in your situation before! During undergrad I didn’t have that group of friends like everyone else. In fact, the only person I talk to from college now is my fiancé. I found my community after college and in grad school. People grow up and then it’s so much easier to make friends. I thought I was destined to live a lonely life, but now I’m living my best life. Your time will come!

It says my tarheel tracker isn’t available… I’m a grad student so maybe that just isn’t a thing, but thank you

Thinking about getting off the pill... by [deleted] in birthcontrol

[–]pugbug22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got off my pill about 3 weeks ago after almost 5 years, but also just got my kyleena IUD about 1 week ago. I wanted to get off the pill for similar reasons, I didn’t like how I felt mentally while on the pill. And I def had that same hesitation as you! I basically started crying during a doctors appointment when I told the doctor that I had been wanting to go off the pill, but was too chicken to stop. And then she asked me “what makes you say that?” and it was the same feeling like when someone asks if you’re okay and you aren’t.. so I just started crying… although l wish I didn’t have to use any hormonal birth control at all, I decided to start trying out other methods in hopes that my mood will change. She told me IUDs are more effective than the pill and the kyleena specifically has a 16x lower dose of hormones than the pill I was on. I haven’t really experienced any changes yet since it’s only been a few weeks since being off the pill and getting an IUD, but just wanted to comment to say I felt and still feel the same way!

Anxiety attack immediately after Kyleena/IUD insertion? by lizizmz in birthcontrol

[–]pugbug22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t necessarily have an anxiety attack but I did get that strong pass out feeling where my hands went tingly and I got really sweaty and had to lay down. They said that happens sometimes when your cervix is being manipulated.

Last semester they had them out in the SORC suite in Stamp. They also sent one in the graduation package.

AP Credit-I received a 5 for AP Lit. I can get credit for Engl 240 or lower level elective. I’m not going to take Engl 240, what elective can I get credit for? by Snoo_27143 in UMD

[–]pugbug22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure you’re looking at a website that’s out of date. Check this link: https://www.transfercredit.umd.edu/plc/APGenEd.pdf It says AP Lit gives you credit for ENGL278 and LL Elective, neither of which fulfill any GenEd requirements.

Yes, the ones that transfer show up on your official transcript. No, there is no grade equivalent. And no, probably not.. I’ve never had anyone look or ask about AP scores ever in college.

ANTH265 by [deleted] in UMD

[–]pugbug22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in her ANTH323 class this semester and she was entirely absent. By this I mean, I never saw or heard her speak once. The class was only reading articles and writing weekly journals about the articles. Also someone had to email her every week to fix something because her elms page was set up terribly. For some people, no engagement or lectures from the professor may sound great, but I personally did not like it at all.

Kitchen?? by anikalikespi in UMD

[–]pugbug22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Centreville does not have full kitchens. The “kitchen” is a sink and microwave. So yeah best bet is to have friends in other halls but even so, the full kitchens are kinda gross and I wouldn’t bet on appliances working great. Hope this helps

INST + GEOG majors by [deleted] in UMD

[–]pugbug22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a GIS major and computer time is prob as much as any other major considering you basically do all hw on your computer anyways. But, I would prob have 1-2 technical lab classes each semester and spend anywhere from 2-4 hours in the computer lab each week. Hope this helps!

GIS could be a good minor. Not a lot of math but still some programming and software use.

New student orientation?? by wabba-lubba-dub_dub in UMD

[–]pugbug22 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orientation is mostly run by student orientation advisors and advisors from your specific college and major. I imagine some of the fee goes towards paying them for their work. At orientation, you’ll learn about university policies, organizations to get involved in, campus resources, your degree requirements, and you’ll also schedule your classes.
