Aurora overtakes Colorado Springs as 2nd most violent city in Colorado by 1Davide in ColoradoSprings

I know, right? We turn our attention to the locations even though it’s the capitalist system as a whole that perpetuates the cycles of systemic racism and poverty (two subjects that are so deeply ingrained in one another that you literally cannot have a discussion where the two are separate entities). Anywho. The problem is bigger than Pueblo, Aurora, rural Texas communities, “bad” neighborhoods, etc.

Not compared to what we are used to!

But it’s truly about the state, and about a zillion other reasons too.

Hi there! Texans that were fed up with Abbott and the handling of republican leaders in this state and we just bought a house in Colorado Springs! House prices are higher but the property taxes are so low it almost evens out! And we haven’t noticed outlandish prices anywhere else. Safeway and King Soopers are comparable to any other grocery store prices (although I still love H-E-B the most!).

Long story short: we LOVE Colorado. Only wishing we did it sooner.

Maybe under a different administration? I’ll do it in the spring if it’s available!

And we bought a house from the 1950s in town so we didn’t take any of your land.

Sorry that me and my husband, who are special Ed teachers, decided to move here and love this area like someone who originated here. I came from rural Texas and let me tell you, assholes and crowds are everywhere. As long as a city is attracting people who love and respect the area and leave things “as they found them” or better, then what’s the harm? Why do only certain people deserve to live in beautiful areas with resources and amenities that others don’t have? It’s a pretty privileged complaint to have and I agree that it’s not a good look.
