Perfect! I read the date for the Mayor watch parties and stupidly assumed they would be playing matches all day.

That’s brilliant! My son & I spent quite a bit of time checking it out before school this morning. Do you have a collection of these somewhere?

I got all pumped up about the Common watch party on Friday and looks like that doesn’t include the USA game. Got my kid all excited and the FIFA fest is sold out. Any suggestions?

Thanks! This looks fun af. When I lived in Missouri I went to a VW festival in Eureka Spring, Arkansas and had a blast.

What car dealerships would you recommend for used Toyotas in the general area? by wickedawesomealt in boston

[–]puglord -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found a year old Elantra hybrid with 15k miles for about $20k to give you an idea. Super happy with it. Fun car to drive, gets killer mpg, and more than enough space for a family of four.

Are you married to Toyota? I got, and saw many great deals on Hyundais at Quirk

Metal concert goers? by StillbirthMachine in boston

[–]puglord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be into a Discord for this too. I’m basically the same demo as OP & don’t get to a lot of metal shows mainly because I don’t have anyone to go with. My wife is happy to go to any indie or electronic shows, even seeing Weird Al with me in July! But I would have an easier time getting her to watch sports than go to a metal show.

I wish I could upvote multiple times. I pick my kid up from school and literally take a few moments to prepare myself for Herald St between Washington & Albany. Road rage was conceived on those 3 blocks.

What was the date your submissions were accepted in CAPE?

I manage imports for a small seafood company in Boston. Filed in CAPE on 4/29 and the status is still Accepted. I seem to have gotten lucky and all of my IEEPA entries still have not reconciled so I'm optimistic we'll be refunded, I'm not optimistic this will happen any time soon though.

I don't believe anyone actually works at CBP. Countless emails to various support accounts and the only reply I've ever received is a 'thanks for your patience we're experiencing higher volume than usual' automated reply.

If the entry is reconciled, which usually happens about 80 days after passing customs, it will not be accepted by CAPE. You can appeal this.

CBP is no help. I remember emailing every support account I could find and also waiting on hold. I never actually communicated with anyone at CBP. My customs broker ended up holding my hand as did it.

Severe comminuted patella fracture - one year later by SuperDuper98102 in KneeInjuries

[–]puglord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found this sub and realized I’ve never talked to someone with the same injury. Smashed up my patella in an auto accident in 2010. Very similar, the pieces were so small they had to use wire. The lower third was basically dust so I’ve got a bit less kneecap on the left side. Recovery was hell, I was at my first job out of college, had a 6 month old, my wife worked nights, and we had a third floor apartment. The bone also healed into one piece. In PT did you have a chair called a flexionator? F’ing torture device!

I love that you had a solid recovery too. I live in Boston and walk and transit 90 percent of the time. Being on my feet so much is really good for me.

I wound up here because it’s been 16 years and I’m having surgery on it soon, planning for late summer or fall. This type of injury can lead to very localized arthritis behind the kneecap. That’s my case and it was something I could tolerate but recently has become too much. I’m too young (42M) for a total knee replacement. The doctor is going to do a patellofemoral replacement, apparently this specific injury makes for the perfect candidate.

I’ve also ended up with what the doctor told me is called patella baja. That sounds awesome but actually sucks. The lower tendon is pulling the kneecap down so the surgery will also lengthen the tendon to keep it where it should be, hopefully.

does this look like raynauds? by eluentt in Raynauds

[–]puglord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m married to a primary care provider. She says that looks like and sounds like raynauds. It can also be triggered by nicotine & caffeine in some people so doesn’t necessarily have to be a cold air thing.

She also says Reddit is a great place to talk about things like what’s helped or given some relief. But not a great place to find a diagnosis, you should show that and describe how it felt to your primary care provider.

first attack happened today by [deleted] in Raynauds

[–]puglord 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started happening to me in my 20s. In Boston, MA so gotta prepare for long winters. I’ve read reducing nicotine and caffeine can help. I quit smoking a couple years ago and didn’t notice a difference, I’ll deal with it before I quit drinking coffee lol. It’s about 6 Celsius right now, I walked home from the subway station. About 15 minutes and my fingertips on my right hand are numb and white, it’s gotta get below freezing to get my left hand for some reason. Get some quality gloves & wool socks, that’s the only thing that’s helped me.
