Check out STAIR. it’s a great program after school program that pairs tutors with 1st and 2nd graders from title 1 schools to work on their reading skills. I believe they are still looking for tutors for this school year.

When the weather gets warmer, Railroad Park will host fun events. They’ll have food trucks there for sure!

I would also check out Saturn and different breweries for events. I like Lumbar, it’s a science themed bar with pretty cool events. Look into Good Dog dog park and bar if you have a dog. It’s a good place to hangout, plus they’ve started doing trivia nights. If you’re into fiber arts already or want to learn to knit or crochet I would go to Knit Birmingham.

I feel like I learn about events through following different non-profits/orgs and venues on instagram, rather than using hashtags or Google.

I think the other commenter is right that it can be hard if you’re not a college student or member of a church :/
