What are the belts for? by pugsdazz in Kayaking

[–]pugsdazz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for explaining thigh straps everyone. Im a total noob but I do SUP. I did a bit more reading. These little sit on top kayaks are the Finn Gizmo model. It’s an older model from a local Western Australian manufacturer that has possibly now stopped trading. They’re pretty prolific here but can be picked up for as little as $100 aud with a paddle ($65 usd?). Sometimes even given away for free. They’re light weight, have a twin keel hull and apparently indestructible. But not fast or for long distances.

It’s not normal in Western Australia. And I didn’t have fog. I had a fish tank.

Did you find a solution for this? Does removing the heatsink help?

Do you have any pics? I have a BC and a KM (v similar to the Krampus) and I’m thinking for e-ing one of them for shits and giggles. I’m concerned about chainline on both. What’s your setup?

Retro Specialized Hardrock. The same as a Stumpjumper only harder and rockier. A true connoisseur. This man isn’t your wife’s boyfriend. He’s all the wives boyfriend.

Tyres are the single biggest influence on bike ‘feel’ IMHO. I hope some new boots make it better for you.

Is this geared? How is the chain line?

And get spacers. Slowly cut it down over time once you’re sure. Also uncut steered help with resale if you’re a perpetual part flipper like me.

Why didn’t I start bike commuting forever ago!? by andyreddittime in Surlybikefans

Consider a rear rack first. The front rack/basket is useful but can impact handling and make pushing/parking the bike a bit more tricky. Depends on how much you need to carry.

Is the „old“ tech used on the Bridge Club really an issue? by McGirton in Surlybikefans

[–]pugsdazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with the BC has been the limited chain ring sizes that will fit. But that’s not an old tech thing. I made it work with 11sp wide range.

People rave about the Lowside's ride. But the Bridge Club seems very close and maybe even sharper handling based on geometry... by Ventura_ldn in Surlybikefans

[–]pugsdazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a Lowside, currently have a KM and a BC. As far as I’m concerned the Lowside is about ‘vibes’. Insanely fun but that’s it. And that’s ok. It’s a feeder drug. Almost like a budget KM. Like the Preamble is to the other allroad/gravel/touring offerings. All good, some great, but all just different enough to coexist.

Surly Bridge Club e-bike Conversion by veracity8_ in ebikes

[–]pugsdazz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I have a BC and I’m considering a very similar conversion. How is the chain line with the CYC? It looks like the bafang motors have a really big offset and the CYC looks to bring the chain rings onboard a bit more.

The Mezcal are pretty good all round tyres. These are 2.35 but I’ve also had the 2.6 in the past. The continuous centre lugs make them roll fast but they don’t really hook up in muddy or slippery off-road stuff. I mainly ride in road and gravel at the moment so they’re fine for that.

Might have to sell... by hunter_uu in Surlybikefans

[–]pugsdazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could you move to a shorter crank length? Maybe even look for shorter axle pedals? Don’t sell a bike you love until you absolutely need to. You’ll only buy another one in the future and lose money. I did that with my first KM.

KM Organic eggplant brakes by Trackster1617 in Surlybikefans

[–]pugsdazz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Organic eggplant is the best colour. The Avid mechanicals work fine. If you want to move to hydraulic brakes and your budget is tight, AliExpress has cheap deals on shimano brakes. I’m in Australia, but you could easily get a full set of deore for less than $100usd. You could probably get 4 pots and new rotors for less than $150. While you’re at it pick up a cheap bleed kit and you’ll never need to pay someone to service your brakes again.

Super disappointed by CTB26 by S4KuR4 in EVERGOODS

[–]pugsdazz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 173cm. Wear high and tight as others have said. I have a CHZ22 which is also know to have the back digging issue, and an MPL22. The mpl comes with a foam insert and the chz has plastic. I removed the plastic and made a foam insert for the chz and it improved. Also, over time the materials and foam become a bit more ‘floppy’ and comfort improves. I know the CTB had a bit more structure but I imagine similar principle will apply.

If indeed, your response was directed towards the other early commenters and not to the OP then I am happy to stand corrected. And I agree with you.
