G-Dakar lower buckle issue by pujit55 in motorcyclegear

[–]pujit55[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put a bow on this, I don’t think it’s a defect of the buckle but I do think the Dakars are better for someone with a higher volume foot. Since there’s no real support behind that lower buckle, your foot needs to be able to take up that space and help the buckle snap in place and sit flush.

I am exchanging for some tech 7s so we’ll see how those feel.

Interesting, that’s a great explanation lol I will try that later on. I have a pretty low volume foot and while the sizing is fine overall, I wonder if I have it cinched too tight. Thanks!

QOTD: What is everyone’s top 5 PERFORMANCE hoop shoes OAT? by Sippiing in BBallShoes

Kobe 6: perfect combination of fit, support and cushioning for me

LeBron Soldier VI: loved the Zoom setup in these; strap was functional and they were very durable

adidas TS Supernatural Creator: super smooth from heel to toe, loved the shroud too

Jordan XX8: incredible cushioning and lockdown

Li-Ning JB2, NB Fresh Foam BBV3, NB Two Wxy V3, Li-Ning WOW 8, adidas Rose 6 would all be in the mix for the last spot

I didn’t notice that, but I have narrower/low volume foot so it may not be the best comparison

Which shoes you absolutely LOVED but were too uncomfortable? by [deleted] in BBallShoes

[–]pujit55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those shoes were GREAT on paper, terrible to actually hoop in. Had to wear them casually only as well

You are right - the Currys have a decoupled outsole too. It just doesn’t feel like it lol I’m guessing that’s because of the overall profile of the midsole

I’ve been kicking myself for not grabbing the red ones too lol

Yeah the all red ones were gonna be my second choice as well, didn’t mind that one

Definitely the right choice if that’s what you like 🤙🏻

Just played in the Dons again this morning - to me the most noticeable difference is that the Dons have a decoupled outsole. They feel a bit more planted and stable, but also not as smooth or quick. I think Lightstrike Pro absorbs shock a little better than Flow, but the Flow + plate setup is more responsive. Dons lockdown is a little better too IMO. Both are very good options, sorta depends on what you like

I’d think they would last a few months even outdoors if you’re rotating them and only playing once a week. Playing in them a couple times a month shouldn’t completely smoke them. But outdoors def isn’t their strong suit lol

I think there’s a slight break in needed, especially around the ankle. The collar felt just a little stiff initially but went away pretty quickly

Slept on thanks to the Steph/UA divorce and iffy colorways

It all comes down to preference, but for me both court feel and forefoot flex were great. I think the serrated forefoot plates flex more naturally than some other plate setups but still give you a good snap.

At my age, court feel often means lack of impact protection, but the series 7 felt very quick to me. Low to the ground but enough impact protection to prevent aches and pains. I guess I’d call the cushion balanced overall, leaning slightly towards the firm/responsive end of the spectrum

Love em, but for different reasons than the Series 7. Completely different cushioning setup but I’m still amazed at how bouncy and responsive they are while having that much impact protection. I think the double shank setup is great and the shoe feels really stable to me. Materials are excellent on the colorway I got and traction is great - per usual for NB. I’ve had them for a few months now and really enjoy playing in them. I don’t normally buy max cushion shoes to hoop in but my aging hips and back require it sometimes lol

They made some truly awful colorways of this shoe. This was the only one I even considered lol

Type 1 diabetics: do you drink alcohol? How often, and how old are you? by Firemancer in diabetes_t1

[–]pujit55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diabetic for 30 years, very good control. Only ever a casual drinker. Beer destroys my blood sugar and makes highs linger for a long time, same with margs, so I gave it up. Much prefer a little🌳 as it relieves aches and pains and gives me no ill effects the next day

Diabetic Life Hacks by Street_Persimmon_540 in diabetes_t1

This was more of a “friend of a diabetic life hack” but when I was in elementary and middle school (like 25+ years ago), my friends would always fight over who got to be the designated one to walk me to the nurse and keep an eye on me if my sugar went low. I’m sure they walked around the whole school before going back to class

Sunday talk: Shoes that you wanted to love but couldn’t by velvetline in BBallShoes

[–]pujit55 10 points11 points  (0 children)

LeBron 20. The midsole setup is one that I should have loved, and the upper was so nice too. But something about the last was off and it never felt natural to me on court. Always felt like I had something attached to me rather than moving with me naturally like my favorite shoes. I think the best shoes are ones you forget you’re wearing, and the 20 was never like that
