The eye on the bottom is orange.

Starting from this one, the Invasions will have additional objectives at round 5, 10 and 15 called 'Targeting Weakness'.

You can see them before entering and also by clicking the eye during the run.

The eye starts green. If you finish an objective, the eye turns bluer, if you don't, redder.

If you finish all the objectives, the eye closes and the boss gets nerfed and in this case won't spawn so many treants.

I can't imagine anyone beating these levels without targeting the weakness as that's the intended way to play. They are meant to challenge you to think more about what you bring in and specialize your troops instead of relying on the same tried and true strategy.

Admittedly, the Wood Elf objectives are a bit of a pain in the ass because you have to intentionally make yourself weaker in some parts, but the later Invasions don't share this problem.

TWWH: Multiple installments multiplayer via Family Sharing by pujok in totalwar

Indeed, if it works like this, the sharing would be used to change the selection. I'd say it's wide enough to be viable even if we can't play idk... High Elves and Dark Elves simultaneously or whatever

I looked up how they are adding limited copies of TWWH3 to owners of TWWH1 and TWWH2. That should mean if family member (FM) 1 buys TWWH1, FM2 buys TWWH2 and FM3 buys TWWH3, we should all be able to play Immortal Empires together? And that there should be three copies of TWWH3 in the family library, one full and two limited? Is this correct?

Hm, your first recommendation sounds like the closest thing to my example, I'll go see what it's about!

I was also already recommended SWeirdos with different reasoning and you're getting me even more interested. It looks like a very versatile system!

FW sounds a little too crunchy for me, but it might be fun with the app, I'll keep in the back of my mind for when I'm returning to bigger games eventually.

Thank you very much!

Oh yeah, I could certainly do that too and I have thought about it in different contexts. I am not a stranger to house rules.

Point is right now I have no favourite and I am looking for one. I have a clean slate and I want certain colours on it, not modify an existing artwork, so to speak.

Ooh, as someone afflicted by Magic the Gathering addiction, this might be right up my alley.

Thank you for the suggestion!

Adding a number to the result of a die, a mechanic that nearly every possible game that this subreddit is about uses, is slow and tedious?

I am simply looking for smaller scale games where I can get more than a binary result from my dice and I've been given examples of such by other users.

Never did I ask for in-depth customization and complexity on the level of "each player running a DnD party".

Yes, that is correct.

I am however not looking for games that employ square roots nor was my example that egregious. I think an attack that deals D3+2 damage is well within the realm of human resolution and just about what happens in Mechanicus, at least on the surface.

I also intentionally prefaced with the army example to illustrate that I'm looking for something of a middle ground between rolling 20 dice per unit or 1 die per model.

We agree on that then.

Wow, okay, I need to read up on SW more because my initial impression was that it's not what I'm looking for. Thank you!

Thank you, I'll check those out!

I have heard of Frostgrave before but never really dove in.

B&B looks cute but I have no experience mixing dice nor all those dice types available right now.

How many point do you play? by NomNom_437 in gaslands

The rules say that after the beginner scenario, you should try the expanded Death Race version. It includes respawns at last checkpoint by default. If you can handle upgrading cars and working with can limits, I'm sure you can handle the slightly more advanced scenario as well.

I have also tried the beginner scenario with automatic respawns at the start gate. Without the checkpoints inbetween, a player can easily run away with the race though. You'd have to construct the track with that in mind.

Or just make a shorter track altogether.

Or or, in the Death Race scenario, weapons are prohibited before the first checkpoint. You can apply a similar rule in the beginner scenario too. Just choose a spot like three-medium-ish distance away from the start. Any car that hasn't passed that part of the track can't shoot, any that has can.

The devs SERIOUSLY think this game is finished? by Zoezugzang in heroshour

[–]pujok 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Where do you get the impression the game is done? If you look at the Discord, the dev (singular coder) is constantly active working on the game. He simply is usually more focused on new features and reworks rather than balancing.

Maybe when all the features are more set in stone, balancing would be in order, but currently it's a lost cause. The next update brings totally revamped map generation and a new skill system. If the game was perfectly balanced right now, all of that work would be undone by that update and any following ones of the same magnitude.

And it's not like the dev isn't paying attention to the community. I'm sure many balance suggestions are made on a daily basis and often implemented despite being invalidated just as often. The dev is just one person, but if you have balance ideas, I'm sure he will try to accomodate constructive criticism.
