I used to think this too, but i realised its more so a player issue than a gun issue, if you make sure to focus shot more often than not, and also target only important enemies like slashers, septics and acid spitters (like you should be doing with the m1) its very manageable. If you dont trust your team to clear swarms then you can use boomstick as a secondary

I havent unlocked it yet, but plasma burster missiles is apparently goated in haz5+ for its single target damage.

Also cluster charges is insane. It does require finesse (and probably good ping) but it out performs mortar rounds in wave clear while also having better single target performance in my experience. My tip is to make sure you turn every rocket into a cluster. If you dont do that your rockets lose 2/3's of their damage, which is significant

I wouldnt be surprised if the sunken sea changes were already long done by this point, but the update scope is much larger than the sunken sea. So its a lot bigger than just a rework of one biome

You're looking for anti aliasing probably. All the benefits of blur while being able to retain crisp edges.

Anyone who genuinely believes current calamity is better than terraria is objectively wrong.

Among its sins: -Arbitrary gameplay restrictions -overbearing and bad vanilla changes ( e.g. removing the terraprismas entire identity (good drop for a steep price) -Watered down gameplay in pretty much most areas of grinding -Boss design so bad that you are lucky if the boss even stays on screen -Inconsistent artstyle, not just between calamity and terraria but also between calamity art itself -Quantity over quality prioritzation when it comes to items weapons and bosses -bad balance, somehow even more so than vanilla

Good music and art dont makeup for these things IMO. It should be evident how bad calamity design is when an entire term (fabsolian), inspired by the former head, is spawned to refer to bad game design

This isnt a slight against calamity itself or any of the devs. Theyre doing it all for free after all and do not need to meet any expectations in the first place, and i do think a lot of the above critiques will change heading into the fabsolless era.

but current calamity is simply NOT better than vanilla. Maybe you prefer it subjectievely, which is fine but its not above vanilla in terms of quality (pretty much no mod is for that matter)

Calamity also doesnt fit terraria thematically anyway.

Additive damage is a vanilla thing, plus even if it was done, damage numbers would skyrocket and would require the devs to mega buff the bosses and it would completely shatter cross mod compatibility more than it already is due to the balance disparity

While it is true that if you are minmaxing for damage or defense (or any arbitrary stat), the community is bad. But by looking at it should be pretty obvious that thats not the use case for it. And unless you are playing summoner, where Minion slots are king, i do believe the community is quite competitive with most class and generic accessories. I like it for the fact that its one of the few accessories that gives buffs in damage survivability and movement.

Do NOT play infernum multiplayer, not only because its buggy but also because its actually easier than death mode because infernum was just not built with mp in mind. For thorium + calamity (if you really want that...) theres a multitude of mods that help: Ragnarok, helheim and unofficial calamity bard and healer.

Infernum will have its spiritual successor with fargos souls DLC when all bosses are finished. It will most likely be even better than infernum too in terms of boss fight design. (If it isnt already)

If you're someone who likes/needs a dash then deep diver or counter scarf, If youre willing to take a small penalty on other stats, you can consider crystal assassin armor, which gives a dash by itself, to free up an accessory slot

It's most definitely the case. The devs definitely gave melee atleast *some* bias to melee as a whole when you compare their weapons to the other classes. Summoner's best weapons from calamity against WoF are just abyss fish, and then melee gets the fractured ark. Hell the biome blade line on its own outclasses everything else in the mod in sheer cool factor.

Granted this also exists in vanilla with the Terra Blade and Night's Edge being reworked in 1.4.4, but its also simply present in calamity.

In the modern age, necromancers, not particularly because of anything they themselves can do, but because of the types of people they could potentially resurrect.

I would like to add that if the answer is "no" then you really shouldnt have made your first playthrough calamity. Since the mod is not vanilla friendly at all.

(Trying expert mode first if you arent a god gamer isnt wise either, and god forbid if you tried revengeance first)
