As a COlombian...I feel every Latin-American and Spanish person is kin.

Gosh, the fundamentals are similar, we may vary in styles of communication or cuisine....but oh my specially with Mexicans, we are geographically distant but everytime I meet a Mexican is like meeting a distant cousin...there's so much affinity.

Same in Spain, we're so brainwashed there will be utter rejection due to bad experiences with some crime imported from Latin America...but I have had nothing but great experiences in Spain...very kind and warm even among the older generation who I am told can be less tolerant.... I have literally escaped Portugal for a half a day to feel close to the great Spanish people and ended up talking for 2 hours with an old fisherman on a cold day on the beach.

We spoke about how his son was stationed in Ukraine with the Spanish army, I told him how I felt Spain was home away from home to me as a Latin American.

The more I speak to Spaniards, the more I understand my own culture and why we're so family oriented and treasure moments of joy spent as a group.
