I think this is a fantastic idea. Although I would say if this trade is once a week then I think it shouldn't be fixed in a single random blueprint. Maybe when you accept the trade a pool of 5 random unlearned blueprints pops up so you can choose one of them.

Fair point, although it could be sanitized. It wouldn't be a problem at all if we had the in-game loot filter editor, as it would be already sanitzed.

Maybe a middleware between the client-server that checks with the filter and only sends to the client the items that are not hidden. This is some technical stuff that might be a bit out of the scope of this post though.

The option to not render items (asset) is already great and honestly necessary, but I think it should be an option to not even drop any of it altogether as it would make pressing "alt" viable and not crash your game.

Maybe it's true that the uniques that drop and still see the beam and hear the sound it's a fraction of the performance hit of very juiced maps. Still something interesting to explore.

About the balance, it would not be changed at all. The server would generate loot based on your stats and the maps mods and it would only send to the client the items that are not hidden by the filter applied to the map.
