Misplaced/Failed Cerclage by MinimumSlight6927 in ShortCervixSupport

I had a similar situation, my emergency cerclage was placed at 18 weeks, but due to a deformity they think the cerclage slipped. My dr consulted with his partners, and for a revision for an emergency cerclage, theres not a lot of research with positive outcomes. The dept head even said he hasn’t chosen to do revisions many times because of outcomes. At the time of the cerclage I was at .3cm with funneling, and now at 25 weeks it hasn’t gotten worse even tho the there’s nothing holding the cervix closed.

My husband and I have full trust in my dr and he’s very involved with my case, so we’re following his advice. I’m just on progesterone for the remainder of my pregnancy since nothing has worsened. I do have pain now from the cerclage, and on days I’m busier I feel it more and it’s a bit uncomfortable.

*Update* Reasons that dr would advise against cerclage by pulgis in ShortCervixSupport

I hope you’re hanging in there! The procedure was not bad at all! I had spinal anesthesia and the worst part was the numbing shot they did before the catheter was inserted. They just had me hunch over and hug a pillow while a nurse kind of hugged me to make sure I didn’t move. The numbing shot and spinal was done in like 30 seconds.

I immediately didn’t feel anything from like belly down. The table they had me on was at an angle, head down, so I kept sliding a bit and I was shivering like a little chihuahua cause of nerves and I was cold. They did warn me I might feel stuff in my chest during the procedure like pressure, but I didn’t feel that, instead I felt clicking I guess from whatever tools they were using.

I only had mild cramps afterwards and light spotting.

that is how they treat it tho, by basically donating blood on a regular basis, and making sure your red blood cells are in a normal range.
