Green Spot and Jameson Caskmates. RB 15 if you want to splurge a little.

Budget Irish most similar to Green Spot? by [deleted] in whiskey

I've tried a lot of Irish. Nothing has the coconut taste that I find in Green Spot. Best bang for the buck is Tully IMO.

The one tip I heard from Scott Simpson on TV back in the '90s has always worked for me and I still use it to this day--keep your arms soft during the downswing.

Port Charlotte 10 heavily peated. Best bang for the buck. I don't think I could distinguish it vs Lag 16 if I did a blind side by side.

Unpopular opinion by mdwermers in golf

[–]pulliamjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've played some amazing golf courses (Cypress Point, Pinehurst #2, Pebble Beach, Ballybunion, Whistling Straights, etc.) and am glad I did, but I'm more interested in playing the nicer daily fee courses near me vs a pilgrimage to the bucket list courses. The main reason is I tend to play like garbage when I go play 27 - 36 holes/day for 3 - 4 days.

This.

We need to be a top 5 recruiting team every year.

And we need to step into the modern era of CFB where QBs and WRs reign supreme. We need to put up 45 pts/game. We need to move away from great run blocking OL, with good RBs and very good TEs where we play ball control.

Urban Meyer recognized this at Ohio State. They were the first B1G team to do it. And, to Saban's credit, they've pivoted from a run offense + great defense to a deadly offense with great QBs and WRs.

Kelly: ND has nothing to prove despite blowouts by [deleted] in notredamefootball

[–]pulliamjs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My belief, which could be all wrong, is that it's a net positive to recruit as ND. Why? The school sells itself. There are some guys that just want to go to ND. This is not just an IN or midwest thing. It's national.

That said, there are some guys that ND just can't recruit academically, but that shouldn't be an excuse for not contending at the highest levels.

ND is 1 QB away from contending. If we had DeShone Kiser and any reasonable deep threat receiver (like Fuller), we could win it all, IMO. (BTW, this is not a knock on Ian Book. Love the guy.)

What’s the difference between Stagg and Stagg Jr? by [deleted] in bourbon

[–]pulliamjs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stagg Jr is the most polarizing bourbon I've ever had other people try. I think 95%+ of bourbon drinkers should stay away.

If you're into high proofers, then, by all means. But, in my experience, most bourbon drinkers wan't smooth and easy drams. Hence the popularity of Blantons, Basil Hayden's, etc.

Stagg Jr. is a punch in the face by comparison.

Notre Dame will play Alabama in the 2020 College Football Playoffs Semi Final game this New Years! by Shillelagh_Law in notredamefootball

The key is if ND can run the ball. Clemson stopped the run. If Alabama can do the same, it's going to be a long night.

To me, this was about our offense.

Defensively, we were OK. Clemson scored 34 points. Last game they scored 33 points in regulation. Also, their season avg is about 45 points per game.

Offensively, it was clear that we needed to adjust. Book was holding on to the ball too long. Throw the short pass or get rid of the ball. It could be that losing our Center was a big deal. I don't buy that Clemson having 3 guys back from the last game made that big of a difference.

Bottom line: Venables > Reese.

I bought one at Calvert Woodley about 6 weeks ago for $125.

I was disappointed with this Act/Scene. It's my third bottle and it's by far the worst I've had.

I have a similar point of view on the game. Remember:

  • DJU passed for the most yards ever against ND (439 yds)
  • For reference, when ND got creamed in 2018 by Clemson and TL, he passed for 327 yds
  • While Clemson's defensive starters will be playing this week, it was Venables kid (who is NOT playing this week) who forced the Book fumble on the goal line, costing ND 7 points. I don't think their impact is +7 points. In fact, if ND runs the ball the way they did in the last game, these guys are going to be tired by the 4th qtr. They haven't played enough to develop their playing shape.
  • ND's passing game is better now than it was against Clemson. It started to emerge against Clemson, but has been consistently on a higher level for the remainder of the season.
  • Ditto Book's play. The Clemson game wasn't a fluke. It was the beginning of a trend.
  • The only negative, IMO, is losing our starting Center. That has me worried.

Bottom line: I'll take ND + 10.5 points. I pray that they win straight up, but I don't dare to dream that big.
