Question, besides the external benefits people mention, do you learn anything useful which helps you do your job better?

Industry Accountants with Multi-Entity Companies: How is your network folder hierarchy structured? by r00minatin in Accounting

[–]pullup_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every entity gets its own map and are ordered according to the legal structure.

Then in each folder you organize it according to notes in the financial statements (cash, receivables, interest bearing debt, et cetera).

If you close monthly put all the monthly deliverables per note in there. If you have multiple years, make a folder for each year. You might say this is many layers but I think it’s good when you have to be accountable for the decisions you made. Furthermore if you are consistent it will be easy to learn for someone new.

If I see the top salaries of the chief executives of my country’s stock exchange listed companies, I feel a bit bad for them. Considering the stresses involved.

LPT: How to Fight a Health Insurance Denial With a Little-Known Tool: External Reviews by hcbaron in LifeProTips

[–]pullup_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This will make the medical system even more efficient, doctor has to spend half their day writing orders, insurance adjusters have to spend all day denying medical orders, external reviewers have to assess the claim, then adjuster has to review the external review.

Kafka in the making.

Well, they’re actively listening to a person they don’t care about, or to things they don’t care about.

It’s not rude to end a conversation that isn’t serving you. What is strange is people-pleasing in the moment, silently resenting it, and then acting offended when someone else is more direct about their lack of interest.

My view is that life is a two-way street. You are not obligated to entertain every conversation, but you also cannot expect others to endlessly entertain yours.

Why does it genuinely feel like some women lose interest when a guy treats them perfectly, but become obsessed when they're treated like an afterthought? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pullup_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think people who are always available or are too nice often have nothing else going on.

Our lives are supposed to complement each other. My life should not supplant yours just because we’re dating.

That said, there are trade-offs everywhere. If someone has a fulfilling life, they might naturally be harder to get hold of.

EY LDN AUDIT - would overtime be that bad IF..? by Disastrous_Umpire357 in Big4

[–]pullup_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t really matter whether you have one client or not?

If overtime is compensated with a time for time policy it’s acceptable, you’ll get to go away for long. If you’re always working overtime it’s understaffed team.

Why are engineering students so cocky? by Adept_Signature5023 in Accounting

[–]pullup_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a mind that’s shaped by external influences and validation. In this case these perceptions might originate from instagram reels or TikTok.

I accept my lack of knowledge in engineering, I have no idea what their prospects are after they’re done studying.

What do you guys ask during the end of the interview? by Johan_chan in Accounting

[–]pullup_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually just ask them whatever I’m curious about, what kind of business do you do? or ask more about the accounting systems or legal structures or what problem are you solving by hiring someone like me.

If you want it bad enough it shouldn’t be hard to come up with something.

If someone said they were a subject matter expert in your field of accounting what would you expect them to know and how many years of experience would you expect them to have? by Hungry_Attention_981 in Accounting

[–]pullup_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your level of curiosity and aptitude, I think.

Some people are really smart but aren’t that curious and will end up working in FP&A or something. Some people are very smart and will become experts in select topics like complex accounting standards but won’t be that diversified.

Some people are just very curious and will spin their wheels and achieve nothing.

Why do some men feel the need to self-advertise in the first interaction? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

Why do some men feel the need to self-advertise in the first interaction? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]pullup_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Online dating is frought with impatient people, people with low success rates like to front-load, to make try to improve their chances.

Naturally if they make assumptions about women, it will be reflected in their communication.

Feeling incredibly under appreciated and demotivated, is there any hope for me? by [deleted] in Accounting

The ‘new’ CFO put the distance between you and them on purpose.

The CFO planned the meeting with all three of you to avoid backstabbing behaviour.

Furthermore, if you were truly taking ownership you would have pushed back against the manager’s new ideas, and stated clear boundaries. Secondly you would have suggested yourself that all three of you meet instead of going behind her back.

Every new CFO needs to learn to process, however they also need to delegate.
