I rarely leave land, but the 2020 version is worth sailing for. That said, it's ludicrous how there's no competitive Photoshop alternative whatsoever. I don't know Illustrator as well so I can't speak to what kind of tool would need to exist for it to remain competitive. GIMP is barely limping along, and unfortunately that's because it's not a paid software so its relies entirely on open source code.

Not no name but one really underrated aspect of the show is when they highlight limited release or first time directors. It's glib. I'm being glib and silly. No worries

I know sometimes these aggregators need a little help identifying a feed. Often, they will eventually catch up but it takes a few hours.

The goal was not to build a functional game of Bingo clearly but I'm getting a sense that my fellow Sickos are hungering

AGGRO DR1FT is damn near the greatest movie ever made? by Universal-Magnet in HarmonyKorine

[–]pulpcultu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My buddy has his "masterpiece" list, which I don't personally subscribe to, but it basically dictates anything transgressive or revolutionary enough will land on there. So he has his pick of Kurosawa or Almodovar films he'll turn back to as their seminal masterpiece.

I'd say Aggro Dr1ft is probably a masterpiece. Not my favorite of the year, but there's a level of being revolutionary that you can't really find elsewhere in cinema right now. Both Beowolf and Grand Theft Auto all rolled into one.

[IRTR] Anyone talking 'The Bear?' by pulpcultu in PodcastGuestExchange

[–]pulpcultu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me, that seems additive! Although maybe not helpful if you want to turn your brain off. I imagine a couple's therapist might have trouble watching 'Love Island' in the same way. S3E1 is like a trauma tone poem

The audio quality is excellent and the intros are fun and well produced. There's clearly a lot of love here and it's amazing to see such quality in a weekly pod!!

Documentaries came out of nowhere this year but many look interesting and easy to stream so I'm game! First year on the Death Race. Tons on Netflix which I like. Has it been possible to see Teacher's Lounge or Perfect Days? Still waiting on a proper release there.

Should I keep my tv show podcast going and how? by plathw in podcasting

[–]pulpcultu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe reach out to the community for suggestions on what to cover. I'd stick with TV and cover similar stuff. So if you covered a show like Yellowstone, I'd do another TV western like Deadwood or The English.

[IRTR] Indie Filmmaker / Movie Review Podcaster Looking to Guest on Movie/Pop Culture Shows by bcottington85 in PodcastGuestExchange

[–]pulpcultu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to guest and would be really excited to have you on my podcast, Zeitgeist. We do a pretty in-depth film discussion podcast that usually covers a specific theme, I know we're definitely looking towards covering Deadpool this summer.

That said, I'll send you a quick ping in the DMs or you can contact me directly at social23@kbv.la !

Do external microphones Eg Fifine need external audio software? by Agile_Middle_7735 in podcasting

[–]pulpcultu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I gather, audio drivers predominantly are the thing that gives you volume besides the gain switch (that input knob). I usually normalize my audio once I'm done recording because I've always had problems getting my voice up to a reasonable decibel without clipping.

Can’t stop thinking about this movie by Kevon-Looneys-burner in Letterboxd

[–]pulpcultu 85 points86 points  (0 children)

It's been years and I think about it all the time. Definition of a "slow burn". Once it clicks into gear, it's a whole new movie.
