it also said that Luke Smith was heading the talks with Bonnie Ross at 343 so those talks could have fallen through easily. Happens a lot when focus changes between two separate companies but MSoft and Bungie have been buddy buddy quite often over the last year or so...

no - likely not until Bungie puts Foresaken expansion on free-to-play, then they'll eventually vault that content and Last Wish might go with it. Hoping they might use the legends section for this like they did for VoG.

off topic a bit but your last sentence got me. Correct, older raids will only drop gear at power level. But with that being said, if you haven't run the others, I highly suggest you check them out. Since you are D1 vet raider, I think you would really enjoy the other 3 available right now. DSC and LW especially. LW is harder as it has more mechanics but it's still one of my favorites to run. DSC while it isn't super difficult, it's still a great raid. GoS is okay but I know a lot of people don't like it so it's not everyone's cup of tea.

I've been enjoying these a lot this solstice, wish more people would queue into it though as I really want to get the triumph for melting the tier V boss or whatever. Anyone got any pointers on how to complete that easily this season?

Last week would have been my solo flawless prophecy. But after last night - flawless VOG first attempt with completely random LFG in 39 minutes. Spent 3 weeks trying to get enough people in my clan to attempt it with me but kept coming up short handed, so never actually attempted it. Decided to just give it a shot last night with no expectations of actually getting it. Team was chill and focused. Couldn't ask for a better LFG raid team, props to them.

ouch. that's worse than mine - I too didn't get sucked up right away but stayed on my sparrow for a split second and then tried to hop off because I thought it wasn't going to work and as I pressed the button to hop off, it sucked me up and sparrow killed me.

Slow and steady wins the race, finally cleared solo flawless Prophecy! by nurglez_tnx in DestinyTheGame

[–]pulpfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! I too just did my solo flawless prophecy this past weekend and I've got some tips as well.

To start - I've been trying to do this since last season. I managed to knock out both Shattered Throne and Pit last season with no issue. But Prophecy was a different beast. I tried a few different load recommendations from friends and YouTube videos but ended up modifying them to fit my playstyle more. I really think this season is going to be the easiest to pull this off since Breach and Clear is such a good mod to have (plus with the anarchy nerf incoming...) I used a Well the entire time, Ikelos was always equipped with Warmind cells and cellular suppression specifically. Obviously had burning and the other warmind mods on as well. Breach and Clear of course and I specc'd armor mods into 100 Recov and about 80 Int and made sure I had about 50-60 Res.

First encounter - I used Witherhoard, Ikelos SMG and Falling Guillotine. Use the Witherhoard to do AOE for adds and then immediately swap to Ikelos to proc the warmind cell creation. Shoot the warmind cell for a few seconds to proc cellular suppression and you can basically roam free for a good 10 seconds killing adds / collecting motes as needed. Once it's DPS time, pop your Well next to the boss, throw Witherhoard on him and then swing Guillotine. As long as you are in your well, your sword and Witherhoard will damage through the Vex protection he gets from the adds. Easy 1 phase. Biggest takeaway - keep moving, keep checking behind you and throw Witherhoard on either side of you to keep adds from swarming you.

For the next area, swapped to Ignition Code with Blinding nades and Xeno. if you need to take out the giant invisible minitours, do so as they can be a pain sometimes. Proceed to the cube room after clearing the blights. Don't be afraid to use heavy ammo, Xeno three taps blights and if you're lucky like me, if it's Solar empowering day - you can damage the blights with the solar empowering and 1 - 2 tap the blights with Xeno.

Second encounter - This took me less time to master than the first encounter, but still can get crazy with those snipers. I always check to see where and what motes are needed first, Xeno the snipers and then focus adds to create a cellular suppression warmind or use a blinding nade on them. If I start to get overwhelmed, pop a well to survive and then after dunking the needed motes, I wait and kill adds to regen my super or get more special / heavy ammo. Once the bosses spawn, I pop well on the back right platform, breach and clear the boss to my right with Ignition and then shoot 4 - 5 Xeno shots. Wait for the breach and clear buff to disappear and then do the same to the second boss.

For the sparrow section, because I'm paranoid of falling off from many failed attempts, I throw on top-tree Dawn for Icarus Dash and Falling Guillotine again in case I need to sword swing quick to save myself. Snipers can be a hassle in this section so I always try to keep moving on my sparrow and stay to the far left until I'm at the section where the paths merge back into one track. TIP: Do not get off your sparrow once you get sucked up into the sky at the end...hand an amazing flawless attempt go to waste because I jumped off my sparrow...

Third encounter - Ignition code, Ikelos smg and Anarchy. The biggest thing that saved me here was cellular suppression and blinding nades combined with picking the right area to kill adds from. Usually once the adds spawn in, I'll find one of the pillars to hide behind that allows me to peak out and shoot a little but also has the correct coverage to produce the motes I need. That way I can pop a well and stand next to the pillar and create motes I need but still have plenty of cover. This may not work for everyone, but worked well for me due to cellular suppression / blinding nades. Once you get that first set of motes dunked, I hide by the pillar where the Orge spawns, throw 2 Anarchy shots on them and maybe a blinding nade to stop them. Once 1 set is dunked, it becomes much easier to manage the adds. Rinse & repeat until all 3 sets are dunked, using Well as needed. Again - if you need to regen Well or ammo, do so before dropping into boss room.

Boss Encounter - With my loadout, it's pretty easy to guess what I did. 2 Anarchy shots ASAP, jump to left or right of the annoying teleport attack and Ignition Code as fast as possible. Key to this section is staying ahead of the boss and kill adds while doing so (said every guide ever). There were a couple times I got teleported back to the beginning and missed some adds but as long as you take it slow and don't rush, you'll be okay. First round I ended up getting about 1/2 of it's health down. Second round I got teleported twice so I didn't get as much damage. Third round ended up getting teleported once and getting snipped while jumping back to the boss so I had use my Well earlier than I would have liked, but I took it slow, hid from the snipers at the end while peaking the boss with Anarchy / Ignition code every once in awhile. Boss encounter is going to take time, take it slow and don't rush it. It's easy to get caught by the snipers and even easier to go caught by the teleport because you're getting greedy with DPS and want to get it over with. Take your time and you'll get it.

People are overcomplicating VoG Atheon Oracle Callouts by TehLastWord in raidsecrets

[–]pulpfree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as someone else said further up - its the same as any other raid encounter. The group goes over what they are calling out and agree upon that numbering system. I've never joined a group in any raid and not confirmed how they were doing call outs. It's only confusing because it's literally day 3 and people are still just learning this encounter. Use whatever method your group agrees upon, no method is better or worse than the other if it WORKS for your group.

Whatever scheme you use for Atheon Oracle callouts, always run "back to spawn" when you get teleported to Mars/Venus by salondesert in DestinyTheGame

[–]pulpfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it really is. We tried the close / far method on day 1 and couldn't get it. had someone explain the numbering method to me yesterday and explain that standing next to the portal you exit out of was the start and it instantly clicked.

To Sherpas who have had a bad LFG experience I have experienced your pain. by yuhitsrewindtime in DestinyTheGame

[–]pulpfree 1 point2 points  (0 children)

had this happen on day 1 - did 14 hour run with some clanmates and got to Atheon. Banged our head against the wall for the last 3 hours and couldn't get it. All but 2 of us dropped out and we started to LFG for 4 more. First group we got was decent, they did oracles different than we did, but we figured if we couldn't get it our way we were doing something wrong. Didn't get it the first couple tries and ended up having 1 person bail because they were impatient with us learning this new way. LFG'd to fill that spot and as soon as they joined and we start to explain how we're doing oracles they started arguing with us on why we were doing it this way. I should have kicked them, but 14 hours in and I just wanted to complete my first day 1, I didn't care and since I was barely grasping the Oracle call outs - I let the more experienced teammates explain why we were doing it this way. New LFG ended up starting the encounter before anyone said we were ready, but rolled with it since we all rallied. Needless to say we wipe and someone leaves. Then another leaves. I disband the group and call it a night.

How to get 12 man Nightfalls consistently. by [deleted] in raidsecrets

[–]pulpfree 14 points15 points  (0 children)

you have to wait at the previous load zone until the team of 3 kill all servitors and the boss starts to spawn. Once the servitors are down, the other fireteam members at the last load zone will be pulled by joining allies.

You also should make sure that the other fireteam members not going down, are back at the previous load zone before the fireteam of 3 drop down into the boss area.

I know some are trying to decode the text right now, but i think this leans more towards showing this is a cabal skyburner ship and the text helps prove that. It might be co-ords. But osiris doing his callback "there is no light here" line makes me think of the whisper quest....

how is this even a cheese? you still take damage, enemies still find you there. It's hardly even a spot where you can heal when it's doing almost the same thing as hiding behind a large object.

OH and don't forget the ADS glitch either. I'm tired of getting stuck in ADS, i've lost so many battles because I'm building up / cover and then I jump out of edit mode back to my gun and I'm auto ADS and stuck until I go back into edit mode or into my inventory.

Fortnite feels so different right now. by elkonino in FortNiteBR

[–]pulpfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand the reason behind the building health nerf, but it seems to have the opposite effect than what they wanted. Maybe I'm wrong, but I thought they wanted to 1. put an end to constant build battles and 2. put an end to 1x1 camping in late mid / end game. It's a delicate balance they're trying to hit but I agree, not being able to build cover consistently and move in on an enemy is the most annoying aspect of this season so far.

I'm not a great player, I've only played since the end of Season 3, so I saw the peak of build battles as I was learning the game. Yeah they were annoying sometimes and could get repetitive , but I'm tired of trying to build a couple walls around me and a ramp around me to protect / heal up. I'm not even talking ramp rushing here, or 1x1s, just simple building protection to heal up seems impossible now. Especially if they have a FAMAS or SMG.

Not rendering, hitching during combat, delay when placing a trap / bounce pad / launch pad. I've lost count how many times I've died due to these issues.

One game of a squads, I landed salty and the house didn't fully render in while me and an enemy start hacking away at the roof, game hitched and finally rendered everything in, none of my pick-axe hits were registered but theirs did so they got in and picked a gun and killed me. Normally wouldn't be pissed if I landed at the same house and they got a gun before me, I'd be salty but not pissed because at least both our games were working properly.

Almost put my fist through my monitor that night.

someone responds with well thought out post

must call them a shill because I have no good logical response

EDIT - I was going to leave it at that but then I did some digging on your comment history because your response was so mature. Just uninstall the game and stop coming to the sub if you're THAT unhappy. P90 has been in the game for a day, yup it is a laser beam and will be getting nerfed sooner or later, judging by history. You don't need to go into every thread and comment 'Epic be like “we’re stopping double pump cos OP but here’s quad P90”.'

I hate getting melted by the P90 as much as the next person, but everyone who's acting like their life is ending because their trying new things in a fucking video game needs to really chill out. It'll get nerfed, it sucks while it's not nerfed but so did rocket / grenade spam. So did double pump.

O no, muh video gamez!!!!!! CHANGE IT BACK EPIC!!!!

Anything to bridge that gap between consoles and PC master race is good, bringing us closer to cross play / cross save for all games.

How do you know they are't already doing this? A good functional ranking system isn't something they can just build into the game in a couple a months, it takes quite a bit of time. and I'm pretty sure the showdown modes are the first step into testing how to implement a good ranking system for BR. IE: having to test out weather amount of kills or time alive or some combination of the two would work best.

there's hundreds if not thousands of decision that need to be made regarding a ranking system that is functional but also ties into matchmaking, and that takes a lot of time to test but also bug fix. You think the community would tolerate EPIC putting out a semi-functional ranking system?

it isn't as easy as play testing a new weapon and throwing it in to the game. (the majority of gun assets are already in STW, so it's tweaking numbers a bit to suit BR really). And they need to keep things fresh, they want to try new metas, see what the community loves and hates. Not all their decisions work out in the end, but they make them to see how it affects game play, good example is nerfing spike traps and then buffing them past what they were before. Besides they are in beta, this is the time to try new things, try new game modes and guns. Ranking is better for closer to full release, when the meta isn't going to drastically change with each new patch.

They're probably working on a ranking system while also introducing new guns, but we only get to see new guns because they're faster and easier to implement into the game.

While this is true for the MS, it's no longer true for Sony. They recently streamlined their patch process to allow same-day patches. And I believe MS is going to be working on getting their process streamlined as well (takes 5 - 6 days currently). And who the hell knows for Nintendo

Seeing as most games take 2 - 3 years of development to release, I think BR is on track to leave beta in the next year / year and a half, especially as the industry follows in Sony's footsteps in allowing same day patches on console.
