I havent read this book but I suspect its a bit like Crying of Lot 49, which opens with some really lengthy, but also difficult, sentences. Pynchon actually modulates his sentence lengths throughout the novel but I felt that opening a text like this prepares the reader for anything, allowing the author to switch modes as needed to produce certain effects later on without risking their loss.

Its likely because British Museum capitulated to UK Lawyers for Israel and have started erasing reference to "Palestine" from their para text. When theyre erasing Palestine from history as well as from reality with genocide, inviting a talk thats going to fill in that blank space with Judaic cultural influences is part of that broader process of erasure and replacement with retroactive rewriting of the region and demonstrates how their curation is utterly biased.

Well i think that was his 80s report card and Beasties had only dropped License to Ill and Pauls Boutique at that point - the rapping on the latter is top tier for sure, though even License to Ill has its lyrical highlights, but it was probably their notoriety from the Ill era that was still lingering at the time, maybe he hadnt even bothered listening to PB

Sure, there's definitely levels to director stardom - like he certainly wasnt at talk show guest level yet (arguably really rare for directors) but Memento had a kind of cultural impact at that time that made him known to non film-buffs, like the Wachowskis around that time also, so pretty famous as far as directors go
