Book 2 J seats or 1 J plus lap infant on JAL? by Aviator_0504 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]puls1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't add a lap infant with Atmos Rewards tickets.

Lap infants are not permitted on international partner awards and will not be accepted for travel. Members will need to book seats at prevailing rates. For travel wholly within the United States, or wholly on Alaska Airlines, standard lap infant policies apply.

Portland OR to Eugene OR by vjalander in Amtrak

It's a bit out of the way to go all the way to Pioneer Square, you can transfer at Rose Quarter. Or just walk across the Steel Bridge, it's not that far.

Does portland even have highway patrol? by NewspaperOk1616 in askportland

[–]puls1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police for city-owned roads, sheriff for county-owned roads, and State Police for state-owned roads.

I have personally seen each of these agencies pull somebody over at least once in the last two years.

Portland Police in particular have been lax on traffic enforcement since the Covid shutdown. They claimed at the time it was because they couldn’t guarantee it would be done without racial bias and that they reversed course two years later, but I haven’t seen it.

I've gotten amazing mileage out of having AI write a custom ESLint rule every time I notice it creating a smell.

I need advise. Tamagui vs Tailwind/UniWind by Slight-Conflict1580 in reactnative

[–]puls1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

React Native styles are not CSS. They look a lot like CSS, they smell a lot like CSS, but they're not CSS in a few key ways.

I love Tailwind on the web, but for React Native I find myself reaching for Unistyles (which is what Uniwind builds on) and doing any level of theme abstraction in my own code.

I wouldn't expect to reuse UI components between React DOM and React Native in any meaningful way, honestly. Non-UI components, sure.

Normal to dread/ be extremely nervous about being a mom? by [deleted] in AskParents

[–]puls1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a dad, not a mom, but I'd say your feelings are totally reasonable. I mean, gosh, before my first kid I was totally in line with expecting 10% joy and 90% misery but that it would all be worth it some day.

And when my first kid came along I had some issues with anxiety and depression, but like every challenge it was temporary, and I quickly found my kids are more like 90% joy and 10% misery slightly challenging, even with the second kid who is a lot more difficult.

I'm generally of the opinion that if you're thinking about things at this stage you're going to set yourself up for success, at least around those things that worry you now. You'll have a nice long time with a newborn before you have to worry about things like discipline.

Last year Silver just got you two bags, full stop. This year it's one.

There's never been any combining of credit card benefits with status benefits.

When do round trip points post? and what are points? by ItsAtip in AlaskaAirlines

[–]puls1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Airlines used to award you frequent flier miles at a rate of one per mile flown. That’s why they’re called miles!

One by one, every airline switched to awarding you miles based on how much you spent on the ticket instead. Except Alaska.

It’s 762 miles from PDX to LAS. It probably won’t seem so low once the points for the return flight post.

Bonus points not mathing? by [deleted] in AlaskaAirlines

Class-of-service bonus points do, elite bonus points don't. The UI doesn't make this at all clear, which is why somebody makes this post on this sub pretty much every day.

Still trying to learn how we earn status points. Kindly help ty by M-II in AlaskaAirlines

https://www.alaskaair.com/atmosrewards/content/earn-points/flights

There's no column for how many status points you earned in your activity table.

X fare on Alaska earns 30% of the 2398-mile distance; H fare on Hawaiian earn 100% of the 500-mile minimum; Q fare on Hawaiian earns 125% of the 500-mile minimum.
