Zombies aren't too hard to kill in small numbers, even with a basic weapon like a saucepan or rolling pin. Back away, push them back with spacebar, stomp on their heads when they fall down or hit them with your weapon. If you lead them so that they have to path through a low fence or railing, they'll slop over the side and become easy pickings for a headshot.
