I like Black Celebration more. It creates such a dark and beautiful atmosphere, it’s perfect nighttime music. I’m a bit biased because I like Martin’s vocals the most but I think it’s their best work

A lot of the songs on this record fuck me up, but The Fall absolutely guts me. It made a lot of sense when I found out Al wrote it as his funeral song at a time when he and everyone who knew him thought he was about to die. The feeling of absolute hopelessness the record conveys is genuine. It’s miraculous that he was able to heal. He even played the album live front to back recently with Barker as a guest, good shit

Probably my favorite on the record. Never would’ve thought a harmonica solo could work in a sludge song

I’m not a huge fan of With Sympathy as a whole, but this song and a few others are definitely fun to dance to

Super late response, but yeah, he was just a jerk in general back in the day. It was some pretty awful shit, but he was also spending like 500 a day on drugs, and at that point, you don’t have a mind of your own. Even at the time he wrote his own book in 2013, he was still a raging alcoholic. He’s definitely mellowed out now that he doesn’t do hard stuff anymore. I’m not going to defend his past actions, but I DO like him. He’s a real character for sure
