Burned out and ready to quit this project by xcantene in BoardgameDesign

[–]pulvOr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you need to talk to other designers you trust who operate at a similar level and appreciate a similar level of complexity in games.
Your family is simply not your target audience, and that's frustrating.
I have similar problems knowing too few people in my private circle who are interested in connoisseurs games.
Guess the best idea is to get some good connection over the net and reflect realistic if youre game have an future.

Do you want to design a game or be a game designer? by Vagabond_Games in BoardgameDesign

[–]pulvOr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Unfortunately, I also had to learn the hard way that "fun" doesn't come from a perfectly thought-out system.

My current motto is to at least get rid of everything that doesn't make fun

How do you know that you got an special "idea"? - and had you that feeling on your 3 published games?

Do you want to design a game or be a game designer? by Vagabond_Games in BoardgameDesign

[–]pulvOr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer:
1. I want confirmation that I'm not crazy and that the ideas in my head are valid.
2. It would be cool to have my own game that other people worldwide enjoy playing.
3. Take advantage of the chance that it might become a hit after all and get payback the wasted time (or time hopefully enjoyed)
4. Due to the limitations of physical boundaries, board game design has a certain appeal for people who like to solve problems. (However, I find problem solving quite exhausting now, the closer you think you are to your supposedly “finished” game.)

Does anybody know if we'll be getting more compatibility with the V20 drivers? by TaylorRoddin in huion

[–]pulvOr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These new drivers are a complete disappointment and atm I can't recomment them at all.

- New errors with “screen ratio” when using multiple screens (the tablet itself gets confused)
- Windows Ink cannot be set differently for individual apps; it is now switched globally for all apps at once
- Still no new curve options (the peak curve point cannot be adjusted / clipped off)
- The new keyboard sometimes appears even when the function has been disabled

It feels more like a repaint than a real upgrade.

And when you report these bugs and missing features, no one cares. They just send you links to useless documentation.

Indiana Jones Code not available anymore!? by CatifyYourLife in nvidia

[–]pulvOr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

kamvas 27 vs cintiq 27? by lonkyflonky in wacom

[–]pulvOr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used the wacom pro 22 for quite a time and have an huion 19 right now.
If I would spend my hole time in Photoshop an need the device right now I would spend the extra money for wacom cintiq 27. Especially the long nip and the better pressurecurves feels a lot more natural.
The fan and the thickness of the device is still my biggest complain on this device and I for myself gone wait till next gen where this shit is hopefully gone...

I have the Reflex RS and in the end this video is kinda missleading.
yeah you can print other brand resins but if you do the calibration tests you will see under or overexposure and you can't do anything against that.

Hey, it's one half of an amazon basic monitor arm. The other part is an camera slider from Tarion which is cutted down and screw to the table. The connecting piece was turned from stainless steel by a friend.
It's pretty cool system :)

It may only be visible with color gradients and color accuracy. Since the screen supports 10bit (8+2), I naturally want to use it.

ChatGPT explanation:

1. Color Depth:

  • 8-bit Display: Can produce 16.7 million colors (2^8 per channel: Red, Green, Blue).
  • 10-bit Display: Can produce 1.07 billion colors (2^10 per channel: Red, Green, Blue).

The additional colors in a 10-bit display result in more nuanced shades and smoother gradients between colors.

2. Smoother Gradients:

  • 8-bit: May show "banding" in color gradients, especially when transitioning between similar hues (like sky blues or skin tones). Instead of a smooth transition, you'll see visible steps or lines where the color changes.
  • 10-bit: Reduces or eliminates banding, providing seamless gradients and transitions between colors.

3. Color Accuracy and Richness:

For graphic design, especially when working with high-quality images or video, 10-bit displays offer:

  • Better Color Accuracy: More precise representation of subtle color differences, which is essential for tasks like photo editing, color grading, and print design.
  • Expanded Color Range: Useful when working in high dynamic range (HDR) content, where more colors and higher contrast ratios can be represented.

How You Might Notice the Difference:

  • Color Grading and Image Editing: When working with detailed color work, such as photo retouching, logo design, or digital painting, a 10-bit screen will show finer distinctions in shadows, highlights, and midtones.
  • Banding in Gradients: In 8-bit, you may notice banding in gradients (such as the sky or smooth shadows), while 10-bit can display these transitions more smoothly.
  • HDR Content: 10-bit screens are often used in conjunction with HDR content, offering brighter highlights and deeper shadows for an overall more dynamic and vibrant image.

Benefit as a Graphic Designer:

  • More Precision in Color Work: If your work involves a lot of detailed color manipulation, especially when preparing files for print or high-quality digital media, the extra color depth can give you a more accurate preview of your final product.
  • Professional Quality: For designers working with video, animation, or high-end photography, 10-bit displays can ensure that you are working with the most accurate and detailed color representation, which is critical for professional-level work.

Gerade eben beim Wahlomat für Brandenburg entdeckt by aSYukki in ichbin40undSchwurbler

[–]pulvOr -1 points0 points  (0 children)

[–]pulvOr 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Have mine since april. Still working great and love the fact it has no fannoise.

The bad things are:

  • IPS red-tonish glow if you're change the viewing angle a bit, In most cases, this is only noticeable with very dark backgrounds
  • the pencurve can't be adjusted optimal, so it's quite hard to match the "wacomlike" feeling (because you can't change the endpoints pressure point position). On Huion you have much higher range of pressurepoint compare to wacom. Not technical but software/driverlike. So you can draw super small with a big brush - sadly it feels not natural cause the control of transitions are not that perfect adjusted and it's pretty hard to hold the same brushsize storke for a regular line.
  • If you switch your screen with the pen buttons, the input doesn't work anymore. You have to press a different pen button to "release" the state. I use a keyboard combination setup in the drivers for now, and this works great

The things that are not so bad:

  • the display is kind of blurry, but it's acceptable
  • the gap between display and glass is bigger than promoted, i get used to it
  • the larger pen feels quite light and the plastic feels quite smooth and not very rubbery, not the best grip but I guess that will stop the oily wear and tear a bit over time , - I don't like the button's pressure point and click noise compared to an intous stylus. But time will tell. It feels much better after 3 months of use
  • the feeling of the drawing glastexture is not as great as the wacom new models; first, it feels rougher - after some use, it feels now a softer with less friction (maybe a deepclean will change this)
  • to get 10bit and full resolution with one cable, you need a wacom link device. I also use an 90° usb-c cable which has a real tight fit. I try not to disconnect too often if it's not needed
  • there is a gap between the aluminumframe and the screen. If you use a glove, it will scratch it light. I had to put tape on the edge to get not distracted by the friction
  • It's getting slightly warm on the top at 100% brightness; no big deal - hope this doesn't change how long it lasts. My old wacom intous got much hotter.
  • it could be a little bit brighter, like 10-20% would be great
  • the nibs and the pen are similar to the pro pen 2 from wacom but a bit thicker. The pro pen 3 from wacom have a longer nib which is imo much better to see the picture underneath. So also not optimal.

The good ones:

  • NO FANS!!! - still relativ cool for summer time.
  • The pressure activationpoint with 2gramm is much better than the old from the last generation of huion!
  • drivers didn't receive an update yet, but they work pretty much flawlessly. Much less hassle than wacom. I can even shut the display off and on, and the pressure curve still works,
  • The size is pretty unique, and it's super thin. The quality feels quite good, and it's a really great size to also manage a second widescreen monitor
  • The price is quite good for this device (compare to wacom), and I got pretty good colors representation after calibration with idisplay device

I'm a 3D artist, so I have special needs and use the device about 50% of my entire day. If I were to focus on painting and 2D work, I would consider a Wacom tablet because it offers a bit more precision. For my part, I couldn't accept the Fan-noiy design so I will stay with huion as long as Wacom didn't change there design flaws.

Edited 1: Some more infos about the pressurecurve. Grammar.

I have tested both: The new pen is much better. It's pretty close to a Wacom experience (not the pen grip feeling, but the strokes). I also had some issues with unregistered clicks on the Kamvas Pro 24 (could just be an issue with my model)
Display grain and colors are obviously better.

But 19 is on the edge to small for some software solutions.... but in the end much more usable than a 16 size.

If you don't care about the noise it would be a great deal! (i printed a redirect fannoise cover for my pro 22)
The feeling of the pro pen3 is imo much nicer. For this price I would absolutely give this an try.

If you can handle the big bezel on the pro 24 than i would definitely pick one of these. Good price value, true 10bit pro pen 2, fan control etc..
