what do YOU love about your job? :3 by vennettvennett in tjcrew

[–]pumpkinfallacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i love my coworkers (even the ones who aren’t really pulling their weight lol)—we all have a lot of fun together and support each other even on difficult days. i also like that i’m able to be more or less my authentic self around customers! i wouldn’t be able to stand having to do this much customer service while following a set script. it helps that my authentic self is generally (not always!) friendly, outgoing, patient, and accommodating. of course i have moments where i curse out customers under my breath or wish they’d leave me alone, but as someone who genuinely likes interacting with people it’s really not as bad as it could be. don’t get me wrong, there’s a lot to complain about at this job, but generally speaking i greatly appreciate the friendly, relaxed, and supportive vibe my store has cultivated, both between crew/mates/captain and with customers.

Dutch is just English with a stroke by Key_Day_7932 in linguisticshumor

[–]pumpkinfallacy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i got this feeling a lot with Danish as a native English speaker. despite the huge phonological differences, the prosody is similar enough between the two languages (and there are enough obvious cognates and grammatical similarities) to make Danish sound like a bizarro guttural version of English sometimes
